We came for lunch on a Saturday. I would highly recommend a reservation if you’re going during peak season. They opened at 11 and immediately had a line out the door. We did make a reservation and were sat immediately.

Our server was nice and food all came out relatively quick.

The smoked trout dip was phenomenal. It’s super dense but didn’t feel heavy after eating it.

The wagyu burger was delicious! I would’ve liked to have a little more of the goat cheese and aioli because those flavors were subtle. The burger itself was cooked well.

The trout po boy was good but not as good as the burger. The bread to trout ratio was a bit off and I felt like it needed more inside. Loved the touch of celery in the slaw! But again wished for more sauce on this as you couldn’t really taste the remoulade that much. The fries were SO GOOD. None left on our plates.

All in all a good lunch and would go back!

Pros: open on a Sunday, great appetizers/desserts/drinks and most of the menu is sourced locally!

Cons: main meal felt lackluster….ordered the Wagyu burger with fries (fries were fine, burger was average) and the cornmeal and almond crusted trout with grits and collard greens. The collards tasted like vinegar, trout was okay but the grits were good!

Definitely ended the meal on a high from the desserts—both the chocolate torte and pistachio cake were a 10/10! Would like to come back on a Friday or Saturday, I know the end of a weekend can affect the experience!

First time in Blowing Rock and obviously the Speckled Trout. This is a charming restaurant with food that doesn’t fall short on presentation and most importantly taste. GF options are available and they are very tasty! My order was a trout entree with grits that were absolutely excellent! Much to choose from in addition to the fish entrees. Our party had fish tacos, Mac and cheese and cheddar and broccoli soup. All excellent!!

This is a must when visiting Blowing Rock!

I arrived at 9:45pm in a party of 10 in the summertime. We were in the area for the weekend to do some hiking. We were told it would be a 30 min wait and the wait was exactly that long.

When we sat and got waters, I ordered bees knees and brown sugar glazed pork bites at 9:20pm. The pork bites came at 9:27pm and they were delicious!

We ordered entrees around 9:40pm. I ordered kids chicken and dumping and kids grilled cheese for my sons and I got the wagyu burger with fries.

We were initially outside but eventually moved inside. The food came at 10:04pm. My sons and I enjoyed our food. My friend got the chicken and dumplings. I tasted some and we were not fond of it.

It was a really good meal. I especially enjoyed the chicken and dumplings. The wagyu burger was pretty good buf after seeing my wife’s steak I wished that I had tried something else. I highly recommend making reservations if you are going at dinner time.

it’s been a long time since i had a meal wow me as much as this one did. my family and i ordered a variety of entrees, and every single one was delicious.

the blackened trout was buttery with the perfect amount of spice, and the strip steak is to die for. the sides were also delicious, especially the smoked gouda grits and green beans. the flourless chocolate torte was the cherry on top.

our server, kellan, was very friendly and attentive. if you’re visiting blowing rock, this place is an absolute MUST. i highly recommend making a reservation and being patient with parking.

Great service and fantastic food! The grits were from my hometown in SC and were amazing! Everything we had was delicious! I had the blackened trout, gouda grits and collards. I promise my intention was to take a pic before I ate, but seeing it made me completely forget!!

Not as impressive as the reviews suggested. The atmosphere lacked warmth and genuine hospitality, the food was quite basic and unremarkable. The trouts, which are the main reason to dine here were very basic, and the service fell short of expectations. Go somewhere else

I ordered the trout and french fries. My wife had the trout and grits. All of the food was served only slightly warm. French fries would have been great, if they were hot. Overall, the food was good, just not hot as it should be from the kitchen. Bar drinks were OK. I thought they were small, expensive and nothing to write home about. Total bill with gratuity was $82 for two for lunch.
