Well if this isn’t a perfect late night destination in NYC, I don’t know what is! A last minute whim landed me in NYC on Holiday Eve 2024 and I needed a meal. Walking through the cold streets, I stumbled upon The Spaniard which has quickly become one of my favorite NY destinations!

We were there for a quick 30 hour trip to experience the “Holiday Magic”. After a long day of travel, we just needed something good.

We arrived and they accommodated us in a back booth tucked behind the bar, perfect! Our waiter was a delight and very responsive. The martini was kick-ass and our waiter was kind enough to offer us many recommendations.

We landed on Charbroiled Oysters, Steak Tartare, and French Onion Dip. Someone slap me, I’m drooling while I write this review over a year later. Seriously, phenomenal. Every bite was amazing! We cleared the table and manged a few cocktails during our time with The Spaniard.

If you are ever in the West Village, stop by, you won’t be sorry! Thanks me later, actually!

We came here for a quick happy hour because it was on our way to a dinner with friends visiting from out of town. It was a great decision because the food we ordered and the service we experienced made us cancel our dinner and reserve a table here instead.

I dont want to over hype it but I really had a great time here and my friends were treated so well. For brunch, we had the oysters, artichoke dip, and calamari. All amazing. Drinks were really good too. But Phil was our server and his energy and the overall experience was the best part. I love when a server cares about the food their recommending.

When our friends came, we got our table and ordered some amazing entrees that were simple but really good. My only issue we saw was that the salad had tomatoes in it even though it wasn’t listed in the ingredients on the menu. One of the members of our group has a bad allergy to tomatoes so that could have ended bad but we caught it early enough. Phil handled it and took care of us. Such an overall great experience. Can’t wait to go back and have Phil be our server.

Gotta say- one of the best burgers and fries I’ve had in the city! Magnificent ambience, a little pricey, but worth it.
Note that you should get a reservation, but if not, you’ll only have to wait a few minutes. Fancy place with a casual aura.

This was my second time going to a corporate event at The Spaniard:

Pros:
– The catered food was excellent — we ordered the grilled cheese bites, smash burgers, fries, bruschetta, corn fritters, and onion rings, and everything was a hit.
-Great location and atmosphere.
-Our server was fantastic — attentive, friendly, and very accommodating.
-The events team was quick and responsive over email, which made planning easy.

Cons:
The general manager came across as quite unfriendly and cold to me. It made parts of the event feel less enjoyable, which was disappointing given how great the rest of the staff and food were.

Came for a client agency dinner and they reserved the back room which was actually pretty good and I enjoyed my meal even though the steak had too much fat on it. I will say the drinks are also delicious.

Amazing smash burger. Insane quantity of fresh fries. I popped in here for a late lunch just wanting a refuge from a hot June day. The food was delicious. I sat in the front, but the back seemed to be a tad more intimate if that’s what you’re seeking. I asked the waitress for her advice as I tried to decide between the smash burger and the spicy chicken sandwich. Super happy I went with her suggestion. For a NYC spot, the layout is spacious, ready to accommodate a standing-only crowd drinking from the expansive menu. Good spot. Stop by

Found this spot from a book called Drink Like a Local and glad I did. Walked in about 6 and the bar area was packed on a Wednesday. Found an open spot an ordered a Toasted Ham and Cheese and a Revolver. The food was good although I would have went with stone ground mustard instead of Dijon. The drink was burbon, coffee liqueur, and vanilla which came together very nicely. Would definitely go back.

The bar was really good and had a lively vibe with a lot of tourists, myself included. The drinks were strong and well-made, and the chicken burger was definitely a highlight, really tasty and satisfying. Overall, a fun spot to hang out, grab a drink, and enjoy some good food.

We had such a nice time at The Spaniard! We were treated to spectacular hospitality, meticulously crafted cocktails, lovely wine, and excellent fries. Sat outside for our afternoon snack and couldn’t have been happier with the staff, high quality fare, and ambience. Will definitely be back next time we’re in NYC!
