After a long night at work, I definitely needed something to eat. My friend John said lets go to the Southern Shack. Although I live in Griffin, I never heard of it. Nestled and hidden this place holds some of the best breakfast ever.
The staff was so friendly, even though Hannah thought John and I were brothers – geez.
The grits came out hot, the scrambled eggs were fluffy and the biscuits filled an entire large plate that was covered in gravy.
I actually wound up getting a togo box there was so much. The staff made us feel at home and were just awesome!
Now that I know where this is, I will definitely be going back.

Walked in to amazing people. And great customer service. I lived in the blue ridge mountains most of my life. And this home cooking food reminded me of back home. And that’s saying alot. The food was delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Great service! Wonderful family atmosphere. The biscuits in the biscuits and gravy felt fresh and hand made, maybe a little thin. The gravy consistency was on point but lacked a little seasoning. The bacon cheese burger was hot and fresh. Also needed some more seasoning. The bacon was perfect. The hand cut fries were just ok. Also needed a little seasoning. A little oily and limp. Can’t wait to go back Friday or Saturday to try the brisket! Keep working hard guys, you are on the verge of building something great!!

My parents & I get Saturday night dinner from Southern Shack once, if not twice monthly. Last week was the first time I had the opportunity to experience Mr Grant & family with his BBQ there. Although we did not order the BBQ (we got hamburger steaks which were delicious by the way) , I did have the opportunity to try the southern Mac n Cheese that Mr Grant offers , and I will tell you it was AMAZING! That only tells me that everything else he offers is AMAZING also & we will have it the next go around! Thank y’all so much for the great service as well as the great food!

First of all, I would like to say that I think the low reviews are based on the previous owner. The “Southern Shack” is in no way affiliated with the former “Biscuit Shack.” I love the food and as as matter of fact, my husband and I are devouring some right now, for the second time within a week. The service is awesome as well. The ribs are fall-off the bone and smoked well, without overpowering the flavor of the meat (brisket, chicken, also) The sides are wonderful with adequateportions, even the baked beans and crackling cornbread, which I’m not usually a fan of! The Brunswick stew was my favorite, though. Please give this place a try if you’re ever in the Griffin area!

I was wanting some good old fashioned southern comfort food, and this place really hit the spot. Incredible food and great people there. Well worth the stop, you won’t leave hungry.

The Southern Shack has the best banana pudding. My favorite is the Barbecue on the weekends. Fridays are best with Fish.
