The restaurant was pretty much empty when went on a Friday by 7:00PM for the dinner.
We placed order for Veg for vegetarians and Nonveg for others.
Idly, Medu Vada taste wise not so good. I think the batter may be very very old. Later we placed order for Veg Biryani, which was one of the worst tastes I ate.
only full of carrots. No other vegetables. Next placed Chettinad Veg curry. This also fully of only carrot.
We placed the order by 7:15PM and we receive on the table so quick and immediate with in 2 hours by 9:15 PM.
What ever we place the order, they come back after 30mins and say, that due to lack of required materials this food item is not available.
I do not know how the taste and service before. But now I do not recommend this to anyone, especially if you are looking for any good and tasty food in Göteborg-Sweden
The chef asked me what i would like to have and I answered a hot rice with rasam and spicy curry.
There you go. Within minutes i was served with a spicy lamb masala a cup of rasam and hot rice.I even ordered a chicken 65 which gave me a kick of southindian kabab. I ended my delicious meal with a gulabjamun and icecream.
The food is amazing and so is the hospitality.
1 star less for no internet inside the restaurant.
From the entrance, there was an unpleasant smell, which was not very welcoming. The food was also not as tasty as before. The ghee dosa lacked the ghee flavor, and the other dishes didn’t have the same taste we remembered. The drinks were fine, but overall we were not satisfied with the food this time.
We hope this was just a one-time issue and that the quality and atmosphere return to how they were before, as we’ve had good experiences here in the past!
The restaurant was pretty much empty when went on a Saturday late afternoon typically the dinner would starting after an or so.
The food was good. We tried multiple Dosa, Uttapam, Idly, Medu Vada, Mango Lassi, Veg and Egg Biryani etc.
The food was tasty and good level of spice as you’d expect in typical Indian cuisine. Make sure to tell the spice level if you have higher or lower level of preferences.
The downside was that green coconut chutney & Mango lassi weren’t tasting the best – meaning it felt that they went little bit bad in taste. I hope this ain’t a regular issue.
We also brought some take away with us in which portion was limited (comparatively what we were served at table) and service was bit slower considering that no other tables were there for serving.
In the right spirit these would be the improvement points to take care for the restaurant.
Overall, the experience has been great and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking to try spicy and nice mix of South Indian cuisine.
The vada was sour and overloaded with ginger, making it almost inedible. The dosa and uttappam were not even properly cooked — they felt under-fried and poorly prepared. The so-called South Indian gravy tasted like nothing more than plain tamarind water with no depth or flavor.
The Gobi 65 was simply raw cauliflower coated and deep fried with no proper seasoning. Absolutely disappointing.
The worst of all was the Chettinad parotta. It was practically raw dough with a few brown patches on it — clearly uncooked and unacceptable to serve.
Overall, the food quality was shockingly bad. This was not authentic South Indian food by any standard. I strongly recommend avoiding this place if you care about your taste buds or your stomach.
I have reviewed this restaurant couple of years ago with 5 stars. Today me and my colleague ate here and it was absolutely rubbish. The food didn’t even contain salt, no taste at all. I ordered a stew with lentils and it was all blended like a tika masala sauce. I didn’t see a singel lentil in my dish. This is supposed to be indian food not preschool baby food. This was the last time I ate at this place. Minus stars if possible!! Service was good though.
The staff and chef were absolutely wonderful hosts and catered to us very well.
The staff are always warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which makes every visit such a pleasant experience. It’s rare to find a place abroad that captures the essence of South Indian food so beautifully, but this restaurant truly does. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Gothenburg!
