My sisters and I went to The South yesterday my first time there and it was a great experience. The customer service was amazing from our server and I believe the owner as well (I forgot to get their names). We started with boudin balls as our appetizer. For our meals, we had the shrimp étouffée, chicken fried chicken, and D’s chicken sandwich. Each meal came with two sides. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, was hot, and very flavorful. We also received complimentary pork rinds, which were really good. The cornbread was our favorite moist, sweet, and honestly so good. Overall, everything we tried was delicious. I’ll definitely be back for the live crawfish.

This place was awesome. The food was great. Customer service was on point. The crawfish was delicious and fresh. Highly recommend coming here to try. We had a group of six people to seven came around dinner time. The sauce and the crawfish was at 10 at 10. Will be coming back thank you.

This place brings the heart of New Orleans right to Wylie, Texas. The atmosphere, the flavors, and the hospitality made it feel like we were dining in Louisiana. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the owners coming out to greet us personally made the experience even more special.
The boiled crawfish had the perfect kick, and the gumbo along with the red beans and rice were rich and full of flavor. We enjoyed some crispy pork rinds to snack on and finished with a delicious bread pudding that did not disappoint.
Highly recommend!!

Order at the counter and Table service Southern comfort food restaurant in a strip mall. Seating is rather limited. Restaurant and bathrooms are clean and in good order. Menu contains plenty of items and there are a handful of items not on the menu. Service was exceptional, super friendly and accommodating. We had the fat Cajun combo. Everything including the sauces were great. Highly recommend.

OMG 10s ACROSS THE BOARD!! I dont know how I found this place but im so glad I did! everything was amazing! The atmosphere is small and intimate and the service is southern hospitality at its BEST. I came to try the crawfish and was only going to get 2lbs but it was so good I ended up with 4lbs and a cup of gumbo. Both were filled with flavor and not greasy butter sauce like most places out here. I highly recommend this place and I will absolutely be back!!

The food was tasty. It’s in an optimal location – you’re not gonna find Cajun food that good anywhere else in this area. The service is top tier! The spot is small and quaint, it would be nice if they had more space. It is my go to for Cajun food in this area.

UPDATE: Just wanted to highlight the exceptional customer service. The owner so patiently assisted me over the phone when I made a mistake placing my online order. As always, the food is 5 star!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Great food with plenty of options for my family who doesn’t eat pork or shellfish, and 2 family members who are wheat/gluten free. On the smaller side so seating is limited. Food takes awhile to get ready, so we prefer to order ahead and take to go. Favorite menu items: everything fried, dirty rice, greens.

What looked like a small and innocuous restaurant on the outside was an oasis of Cajun and Southern flavors and delights.

Fabin was a great server with a warm personality. My wife is very sensitive to certain foods and he was able to give her in depth details on the content and cooking process for each item.

We started with the Etoufee Crawfish Dip. It was so good! It was served hot and the flavors were on target.

We both ordered “The Dirty South.” We had Dirty rice and greens as the base. I had blackened catfish and my wife had shrimp as her protein. When I tell you this was “Slap Ya Mama” good, that would be an understatement. The greens were tender and succulent, the dirty rice was moist and filled with such goodness. The blackened catfish was a perfect blend of seasoning and the fish was soooooo fresh and delicious.

Now for the coupe de gras, we ordered bread pudding. I’m not a big fan of bread pudding so I just waited for my wife’s reaction and it was one of complete satisfaction.

We had a great visit and we will be back!

AUTHENTIC SOUTHERN SOUL AND WORLD-CLASS SERVICE.

This place is the real deal. We arrived on a crazy busy night (school spirit night), but the owners’ wife and staff managed the floor like absolute pros—attentive, friendly, and always checking on us. Maybe the best service environment I’ve ever experienced.
The food is just as good:
Appetizers (Crawfish Dip/Meat Pie): Absolutely inhaled them. The crawfish dip is rich and soupy (in the best way) with buttered toast for dipping. Set the tone immediately.
The Gumbo: Deeply flavorful, smoky broth with perfectly non-slimy okra.
Chicken Fried Chicken: Flaky, tender, sweet and peppery crust. Whipped potatoes and creamy comfort gravy. Pure, honest soul food.
The Cornbread: Dense and sweet—a must-order.
To top it off, the owner brought us free samples of their cornbread waffles (crispy outside, gooey inside!). This isn’t just a meal; it’s a generous, authentic experience run by people who genuinely care. Skip the chains and come here. Perfection.

If you’re craving authentic Cajun food without driving all the way to Louisiana, this place in Wylie, Texas will transport you straight to New Orleans from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere, the aroma, the hospitality…it truly feels like you’ve stepped into the French Quarter. We should know being from New Orleans.
The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. What really stood out was that the owners personally came out to greet us, that level of hospitality says everything about how much they care about their guests and their food.
We started with boiled crawfish, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. We also sampled a cup of gumbo and red beans and rice, and both were absolutely delicious. We snacked on some crispy pork rinds in between (so good!), and ended the night with an amazing bread pudding that was the perfect sweet finish to an already fantastic meal.
If we could give this place six stars, we absolutely would. Highly recommend for anyone looking for true Cajun flavor and genuine Southern hospitality right here in Wylie, Texas!
