Visiting from out of town and stopped in on a Saturday night. Had a BLT pizza, cheesy dough sticks and a beer. Food was fantastic; cooked perfectly and the flavored sauce on the BLT was unique and yummy. Nice beer selection from Iowa breweries. The owners were welcoming and provided excellent service. It’s clear they have done a lot of work on the building, it’s very clean and nicely decorated inside. Outdoor space looks like it would be great when the weather is right. Will plan on making the trip again!

We stopped into Smoky Dough on a chilly Halloween night and were instantly greeted by the warm aroma of their wood-fired oven and a super friendly staff. The calzone I ordered was absolutely amazing, my wife loved her Buffalo mac and cheese, and the cheese sticks were to die for. Cozy atmosphere, great food, and wonderful people—can’t wait to go back!

This place is great. The pizzas are incredible, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. We tried a few pizzas and so far the chicken alfredo is my favorite! We definitely recommend visiting.

Our first visit to The Smoky Dough restaurant in Calmar was a smashing success.

The owners are super friendly, the restaurant is comfy, and the food is mouth watering.

The brisket with the master’s own seasoning was to die for and the boasted chicken was crunchy and moist. Both entrees came with two sides. Tony and I both had the garlic smashed potatoes and cole slaw. Yummy!

What a gem of a restaurant! My husband and I rode the Prairie Farmer bike trail starting in Calmar and returned the following day to try the Smoky Dough. The owners were absolutely welcoming and service was splendid. We each ordered a different pizza and they were both excellent. The wood fired crust was perfect, the red sauce was tangy and the cheese perfectly bubbly and golden. We will make a point of returning.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible! Ordered a meetza pizza with mushrooms and black olives added. Got a pizza with just the mushrooms and black olives. They made a second and we could hardly find any toppings on it. Bad pizza to boot. Both bathrooms out of order.
