All my vegan friends kept telling me about this place. Finally got to go there today and it was definitely spot on! Super cozy chill place and the people working there are the nicest people you’ll ever meet! I got a Caesar salad with tempeh and avocado with an apple baked dessert trying to keep it on the healthier side… But I’m definitely going to have to go back ASAP to try their Vegan chicken sandwich I think it was, I was in a rush so I didn’t really get to get the details. But it sounded like a must try along with a few other things on the menu, I’m definitely going to be back!

I took a trip with the love of my life for my birthday over the weekend, and since we’re plant based, we needed to look up a restaurant that matches our lifestyle. The Smokin Onion is absolutely amazing! Coming from a chef myself, this is some of the best plant based food in the country. I can see why they have award winning food. I’m looking forward to my next trip to Asheville! 10/10

My partner and I had a really nice meal here! I had the Johnny Utah wrap with a cappuccino and he had the chimichanga with a chai. Our food and drinks were both really good, the staff were so friendly, and the space is really cute. I wish you could get the breakfast scramble without Impossible sausage, but that is super minor/personal preference. I would definitely recommend visiting whether you are vegan or not!

I absolutely LOVE this place. EVERYTHING here always feels thoughtful and really well done. Their food is consistently delicious and fresh, and they make one of the most beautiful salads with perfectly seasoned and crisped seitan. Also love the Brussels sprouts and their goddess dressing.
For dessert though (obviously the best part of any meal) – the giant and incredible chocolate chip cookie. It’s my favorite, favorite, favorite thing. In my humble opinion, it’s the best chocolate chip cookie in Asheville.

This place always hits! They always go above & beyond with everything! I travel 40 miles to eat here every month! If you haven’t been, give it a try! I recommend EVERYTHING! But the brussels are close to my heart!

Excellent, casual American food, and I love that they are explicitly vegan. Speaking of explicit, I’m not a fan of all of the stickers with swearing on them, so I wouldn’t call it family-friendly, and I’m not a fan of all of the far-left politics on display, but, again, I greatly appreciate the support for animal rights, AND the food is killer. ✊️

Tucked into a little corner of west Asheville is the absolutely most incredible restaurant in Asheville. The food is truly exceptional! I had the bbq plate which had the crispiest best fried chicken of my life, sweet and smoky bbq beans, Mac and cheese, tangy slaw, and pickles to make it a full party. This is what friend chicken wished it tastes like- crunchy in every bite, tender inside, and seasoned to perfection. I could write a song about this chick’in !! Every dish was carefully crafted and unique in some small flavor way so that each bite was comfy and familiar and yet clearly up a notch. Truly extraordinary. Oh, and the cornbread was moist, sweet and just lovely. I loved every bite. My hubs got the chimichangas, which was equally awesome! I don’t know how they make money on these massive portion sizes, but we were stuffed for lunch. If I lived here I would eat here daily. I lived in Aville in the 90s and mourned the loss of laughing seed. Mourn no more! This place has the creativity and flawless execution I remember from their early days. Amazing! Incredible! Easily one of my best meals in this decade.

One the customer service top tier. All I heard coming up to Ashville was be careful it’s not for us brown people. I get there and the ladies were phenomenal, from greeting to check out. The lady with the pink or purple hair was so adorable, and tiny lady with the pretty face who brought me out my food was sweet as apple pie. The food was sooo goood! The BEST vegan gyro I ever ate. I came on a day they were celebrating something and they had vegan donuts. If I didn’t live two hours away I would go back but I live in High Point. I accidentally took the beep thingy for when your food is ready, I plan to bring it back when I come that way. Moral of my story don’t let other people define your experience race/color was never even a factor and I’m from Kismayo Somalia I was treated human I love this little gem and I will be back. P.S the prices to me were very reasonable compared to other vegan spots in my city.

Food’s great! Such a shame the owner has such a horrible attitude. This is NOT a sitdown restaurant with tableside service, so absolutely no way am I tipping like such. If you rely on tips to give your employees a good wage, then you simply aren’t paying your employees enough. Tips are EXTRA not an EXPECTATION. Such a shame because vegetarian options are hard enough to come by.
