Stopped into Sign of the Buck for lunch while passing through Gettysburg and it was such a great surprise. It was also restaurant week!
As chefs traveling on the road, we’re always excited to find places that really care about ingredients and execution, and this meal delivered. The crispy polenta with hot honey was incredible. We also had the potato leek soup, which was unbelievably smooth, and a salad packed with great textures and flavors. For sandwiches, the steak sandwich was outstanding and the mushroom banh mi was a perfect non-meat option for me during Lent. And we couldn’t leave without dessert; the chocolate Basque cheesecake was excellent.
We had the chance to chat with Chef Josh as well, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. Always appreciate meeting chefs who clearly love what they do. If you’re visiting Gettysburg, we’d absolutely recommend stopping in.

I had such a wonderful experience here! Decided to have dinner at this spot on a whim and so glad I did :)) The steak frites was an absolute 10/10, some of the best steak I’ve had in awhile. The tuna tartare was delicious, with so many layers of flavor to it. It was great as a small plate serving. I ended dinner with a slice of basque chocolate cheesecake. Great experience all around and can’t wait for my next visit when I’m back in town 🙂

Overall, lunch there was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is modern, which is different for Gettysburg.
I had the French dip. They added something special to it from any other French dip I’ve had before and it made the flavor absolutely spectacular. I heartily recommend it.
The restaurant was short-staffed that day, so it took quite a while for us to receive our order. Our server was quite pleasant and apologized for the delayed service.
Overall, I loved having lunch there and I’m very much looking forward to going back again.

The Sign of the Buck is by far one of the best places my wife and I have ever been. We did our wedding rehearsal dinner there and they went above and beyond. Maria was incredible from start to finish in helping us make the menu, pick drinks, to overall just making us feel welcomed. Closer to the end of the night they surprised us with a gift bag with a bunch of Sign of the Buck momentous and a handwritten card. We’ve never been to Sign of the Buck before but because of the incredible food, staff, and just overall feeling welcomed we are making it our yearly anniversary spot. They not only impressed us and our party but they went above and beyond. We lost count of how many people said Sign of the Buck was one of their favorite part of the weekend.

My wife and I had the privilege of dining at Sign of the Buck for the first time this weekend, and the rave reviews our friends shared about their food leading up to our mouthwatering meal did not do it justice! The French Onion soup was delicious, but the star of the show was certainly the Braised Venison Ragout with polenta, potato croquette, and parm! Each component was incredible by itself, and they took our taste buds on a glorious journey when combined! The chocolate cake was astrounding as well, aptly concluding a meal will live rent-free in our heads for years to come! Before our visit, I was impressed with the look and navigability of their website, along with their seamless reservation process. We will certainly be returning for another dining experience, and applaud the entire team on their exceptional execution!

We had a lovely brunch with our family. Food was delicious and you could tell it was made with the best and fresh ingredients. My recommendation goes to the eggs Benedict and cinnamon roll.

Painfully average fine dining. Probably the only “fine dining” choice in Gettysburg. Atmosphere is excellent, food is good to fair. If you have experienced fine dining in such places as Manhattan or Cape May this will disappoint. As a Desert Storm Veteran just a quick note about Gettysburg. Be fore warned it is a gathering point for “patriots”. A large group of people that buy combat boots, wear under armor flag shirts and put stickers on their F150’s, but never served. Btw 2 olives in a Martini? No sir 1 or 3. Even number is bad luck. Which any professional bartender would know.

100% fully committing to this 5 star review of Sign of the Buck. While in town to celebrate our Anniversary, we lucked out and scored a table in the dining room. The atmosphere was lively yet intimate. Our server, Kate, was SPECTACULAR! Kate’s recommendations for beverages, entrees and dessert were spot-on for us. Our bartender crafted martinis that were absolute perfection (Espresso & Chocolate). Chef presented stunning arrangements of culinary delights that were as delicious to eat as they were to look at (Confit Wings, Swordfish & Shrimp). Do it, make your reservation, and visit this place!! You too may instantly become a “foodie” who feels the need to take pictures of the food before eating. 😉

Dinner for 2, everything was delicious. Bread plate, braised venison, and the smoked pork chop. All cooked to perfection and delicious. Also had a smoked pecan old fashioned that was probably the best old fashioned I have ever had.

Our server Dan was outstanding, friendly, had all the information we needed to make good decisions and featuring restaurant week, your choice of appetizer and main meal for $20. My grilled cheese vegetable sandwich was a work of art, the fries could use a little work, but the curry aioli is a masterpiece.. The Black swan cocktail was attractive to look at and even better to taste. It’s my third time at the Sign of the Buck, my friend’s first time, and we both left happy, full, and vowing to come back.
This restaurant features happy hours, and engaging live music on Mondays at 7:00 p.m.
If you haven’t been down here before, you owe it to yourself to try this treasure of a restaurant, and if you’ve been here before and it’s been a while, what are you waiting for?
