Hospitality is truly at the heart of this restaurant.
You’re greeted by people who make you feel genuinely welcome. The chaats were super tasty, and what really stood out was the thoughtful service : even though it was a buffet spread, we had peas kachori and naan brought to our table even without asking. The restaurant itself is spacious, and done up in vibrant colors, making it a pleasant place to dine. However, at this price point one would expect a wider variety, especially when it comes to non-vegetarian dishes and desserts. The chicken biryani leaned more toward rice, and a few more chicken pieces would have made it better.

Best Indian Buffet in Town!

Second Wife Indian Restaurant truly impressed me with their buffet! The variety was amazing — from flavorful curries and fresh naan to perfectly cooked tandoori chicken and delicious vegetarian options. Every dish tasted authentic and freshly made, with the right amount of spice and richness.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was refilled and fresh throughout the service. The atmosphere is clean, cozy, and welcoming — perfect for lunch or dinner with family and friends.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed this place’s buffet mate. The naan is actually pretty crisp and moist. Good stuff. All of the meats are cooked till tender but still moist. The variety in the vegetarian options is high. Good spice. The butter chicken pieces are large though in terms of flavor I’ve had much better. Their goat is actually much better than other place’s goat. The vegetarian options were all good with some even being really great. You can either get room temperature water infused with fruits and herbs, bottled water to or lychee juice as part of the buffet. The place itself is super clean. No issues with my plates or utensils The workers, which are just the owners and their servers were actually really attentive. It’s surprisingly some of the better service I’ve had in the Bay.

I guess the buffet is only served at lunch time, despite having the buffet stations properly displayed out in the open. It had a nice atmosphere and it was really nice and quiet inside. I’m gonna piggy back off the last reviewer who said this, but man the prices for what you pay here is outrageous. We didn’t even get much, just butter chicken with 2 orders of garlic naan and 2 samosa chaats with rice and it ended up being $90!!!! NINETY FREAKIN DOLLARS!!! LAWD HAVE MERCY!!!!!!! If I would’ve known, I would nope on the heck outta there!! And we didn’t even order drinks, we just drank water!! Normally at other Indian restaurants our bill would be about $40-50 cause we frequent Indian food a lot. But man for that price, our plates and utensils offered should’ve been made of gold! I mean no wonder it was dead in the restaurant, nobody wants to pay that much!!! The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the staff were really nice and respectful, but that’s not what I’m paying for. And the food was decent, it’s not something I would return for ever in my life though. I just felt like I got robbed. But this is a one and done deal for me.

Food is on par but the ambience is quite good. I rarely see a buffet restaurant could be that clean, tidy and not crowded. They also provide good service, very nice and friendly staff.

Great new Indian restaurant. Nice clean and everything is new. We went for buffet dinner. One can order from a menu also. They had a large selection of items both veg and non vegetable. They had ceg curry a few variety of chicken, goat curry, two variety of desserts. Tea and lots of other items. Fresh nun is brought to the table. Overall nice clean place. Plus the food is not spicy hot.

Friendly staff, clean and quiet atmosphere. Table service is excellent. Today’s (09/28/2025) special was Bhature. Bhature and naan were served at the table. Fish pakora , vegetable pakora were yummy. One of the few Indian restaurants which had pieces of goat in the goat curry. Butter chicken was little sweet. Paneer Tikka was tastier than any chicken items. They also had bitter gourd, eggplant and chickpeas curries. We liked both the desserts, rice pudding and moong dal halwa.

This place is truly incredible! Fantastic super delicious food with very high quality ingredients and many vegetarian chicken lamb and fish varieties to choose from. They even had the most proper/delicious chicken Biryani in the buffet and all the condiments that go with it. Everything was absolutely perfect including the spice level of all dishes. It was perfect! They also make butter naan fresh and serve it to your table hot from the tandor, and it’s included in the buffet price!!

The restaurant is super clean and smells very fresh. Many South Asian restaurants have an issue where the curry/food smell is so strong in the restaurant that it sticks to your clothes and even hair sometimes. That was definitely not the case here. That’s another big plus for people with allergies and smell sensitivities.

The service was beyond amazing. There was always a waiter watching over the restaurant patrons constantly to see if they needed anything, and also making sure that the buffet is tidy and all buffet items are replenished promptly. Very professional 5 star service!

In terms of atmosphere: The Indian instrumental music that was playing was well selected and very soothing and relaxing with a perfect volume level. So much thought was put into this restaurant’s decor atmosphere and dining experience.

Finally, in terms of price, at $24 for the lunch buffet; they are at least 60% cheaper than similar high quality options in the Bay Area, at least at the time of posting this review. Their dinner is A-la-carte only though. It’s really mind blowing how affordable this place is for the high quality and excellent variety that they offer.

Really WOW experience

### Update from my 2nd visit to this place

There were a few new food items in the menu that were different from the day before, which included new items in the main coarse appetizer and dessert, so they certainly keep their buffet line up interesting and consistently high quality. I went to this place 2 days in a row, which was a first for me, and it was totally worth it and I was beyond impressed again!!

I attached more photos from my second visit. I also learned the water pitchers that they provide for free (cold or room temperature) with the buffet are naturally alkaline. They spend 24hrs to prepare the water and they include some herbs in it which gives it that natural alkaline property and makes it very fresh. Their water was so good/smooth that I drank 2 pitchers almost! I’m very picky about my water due to personal health issues, so this additional added value in particular was very impressive for me

We were looking for a quick office lunch and decided on an Indian buffet for its convenience and variety. Second Wife came up in our search, and while I went in with low expectations (buffets usually disappoint), it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

The first thing that stood out was the ambiance—bright, clean, and well done, which is not always the case with Indian buffet spots. The starters were impressive: samosa chaat, chaat tikki, and assorted bhajiyas. The highlight for me was the palak pakora along with potato and onion bhajiyas—something you rarely see at a buffet and a great sign of thoughtful cooking.

For the mains, they had paneer do pyaza, mushroom masala, kadhi, and white bean masala. The mushroom masala was excellent (I went back for thirds). Fresh, hot butter naans were served at the table and were a big hit. Colleagues who tried the non-veg options mentioned the biryani was good as well.

Dessert included rice pudding, boondi laddoo, and carrot halwa. The laddoo, with large boondi and nuts, was my favorite. Service was attentive—plates were cleared promptly, and the staff kept a close eye on the table.

Overall, Second Wife is a solid Indian buffet option with good food, great ambiance, and attentive service. Definitely worth a visit for a relaxed lunch.
