The Salty Dog Tavern ( formally the Tipping Chair Tavern of Southington ) is an upbeat Sports focused Tavern featuring great food, domestic/local craft beer, and delicious handcrafted cocktails. Our menu will also feature vegetarian and gluten-free items for the sports fans not looking for the same old bar selections. We look forward to having great happy hour specials, Trivia , Karaoke and possibly a cash bingo whenever there are no sporting events on. I Came here for the first time and had to order the award-winning chicken wings. Definitely was not disappointed! They are one of the best tasting wings that I have ever had. I ordered the lemon pepper and the Nashville hot dry rub both tasted so good. They had an extra little crunch to them that made them delicious. Our waitress/ bartender was Michaela. She was awesome. The whole vibe at this place was definitely very chill. I ended up buying the whole bar a Jell-O shot. They were on sale for one dollar each. Prices here are definitely fair! They even offered deals on certain days of the week. Join us Half-Priced Wings on Tuesdays @ 6PM -10PM*

I was really impressed by this bar! We came here before a movie, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu had a lot of great offerings. The burger I ordered was delicious. They also had a wide array of specialty drinks and cocktails, which were quite tasty. The prices were extremely reasonable here as well. The wait staff was attentive, and the service was quick. I will return.

What makes The Salty Dog exceptional is the Salty Dog boasts an excellent selection of craft beers that would impress even the most discerning beer enthusiast. The sport bar vibe here is simply unbeatable – you can’t find a more welcoming atmosphere anywhere else in town.There’s two dishes that absolutely stole the show. The chili was incredibly unique with its own distinctive smoke flavor that sets it apart from any standard bar chili and the wings were quite frankly out of this world – perfectly cooked and seasoned.
There’s Plenty of parking and I’ll be guaranteed a return visit next time I’m in town. For anyone looking for a fantastic local spot with great food, incredible brews, and an awesome atmosphere, The Salty Dog is the place to be!

Overall very happy with the overall experience that we got at Salty Dog Tavern. I definitely would go back the hostess was amazing and she was very attentive. We went for the wings and we were not disappointed we were happy that they were very meaty good and had a great texture. The prices were Fair in align with everybody else. The biggest thing that was a difference was the awesome flavors they had the buffalo hot was very good not too spicy but had great flavor. My wife had the jerk and she said she really liked it as well.

Lots of fun at this place. The food is amazing the wing are considered award winning for a reason OMG. So good and crunchy. Plump wings and a great price if you come during the happy hour. The service was fantastic from all the staff making my group feel welcomed. Micaela and Chelsea were awesome in being entertaining for us the whole time.

I wish I could explain how wonderful this food is but I just can’t. I’ve been in my truck, 1000 miles from home just wanting a GOOD meal. A truck driver friend recommended this place and I did not get a good meal, I got a GREAT meal. Perfectly crispy fried Pickles, perfectly crispy and sauced chicken wings, perfectly chopped side salad, perfectly seasoned Poutine Tots, perfectly mixed homemade ranch. Perfectly friendly service and perfectly clean environment. This place absolutely not disappoint. I promise I will go out of my way to come back.

Got wings they were hard to determine if they were frozen or real. Either way they needed more flavor. Got a Cesar salad the size of a small plate for $13 + chicken 6$ ( potentially frozen chicken ) a few common beers, (took forever to get)
Terrible service sat outside and barely got checked on. $85 bill ( pretty expensive) with a not so good tip… due to service. Won’t go back. Seemed busy for a ok dive bar in a plaza? Expected more but I guess If you don’t know good food you would love it. Good luck to each their own! I wouldn’t waste money
