Welcome to the Royale Food & Spirits, a true neighborhood public house, restaurant and bar in South City St. Louis. We offer fine drinks and good eats for lunch or dinner on our beautiful outdoor courtyard. The Royale is a respectable place where you can hang out with your friends, go on a date or even take your mother.
Warm pub with tin ceilings & glass brick serving a casual American menu & house cocktails.

Fish tacos were great and Beth’s burger “hit the spot” . Good mix of cocktails, drafts, and music as well. Herd the Beastie Boys, JVB, the Pharcyde and more. Haven’t been in a while, but will remedy that in the future.

Warm, inviting pub with great food and better cocktail and beer selections. Really appreciate businesses that are standing up with their community in these scary times. They hosted an artist silkscreening clothes for free to protest the ICE infestation in the city. Have been there many times, and will continue to go.

Before we moved to the City, we would make the trek to the Royale for the three things they do best: food, drinks and vibes. And more specifically, the patio vibes! Dog friendly, too, which is a plus. Now that we live closer, it’s definitely a go to in our rotation. We love the fish and brisket tacos, and the Subcontinental is one of our favorite drinks – they have a great cocktail and draft beer list! Plus they regularly have DJs playing music. Great place for a chill hang!

Not sure why the rating is so high. We were in S. City, so decided to get a bite here, based on reviews. The online menu showed jackfruit tacos and a veggie burger– neither were on the actual menu. The first glass of wine was borderline vinegar–had to ask for a glass from an unopened bottle. Food we ordered was burnt but raw mush (pakora), unmelted and cold (grilled cheese) and otherwise meh. The ambiance is just an old smelly bar with macho music– Blueberry Hill does a better job with same concept and better music and food, and even Fitz’s (which is kinda dank) has better veggie options. And it was pricey. Maybe this place attracts a specific type.. clearly we (a GenXer who *really* likes food, and GenX-boomer who appreciates a great grilled cheese) were not the right market. Would not return.

Visited the Royale for the debate that aired on Tuesday. This place has been on my list for a bit so it was nice to finally go!
Knowing they were busy, they still did a great job getting us ordered and our food and drinks to us by a realistic / reasonable time. The hummus plate was great and my partner really liked the ceviche and gyro wrap. I sipped on the violet mango CBD seltzer which was a great way to vibe out.
The interior was cute and the patio was great! I will go back to enjoy their patio, for sure.

Greatly enjoyed our dinner and drink here. The food and service were outstanding. The fire pits outside were wonderful. Nice landscaping.
A few issues that could be better: parking is street parking on a side street and accessibility. While there is a ramp to the front door, there are no tables in the inside dining room that can accommodate a person in a wheelchair. Also the higher chairs and tables are a challenge to those with balance issues and those who use other mobility devices such as a cane or walker.
The prices seemed about $2-$3 higher for items that are at other similar establishments.
I think we will return, but we will need to plan and gauge our finances accordingly.

We arrived in town really late on a Saturday night and we were really excited to try the food here. We had missed on the website were it says they only serve food until 10pm, which it totally says on there, we just missed it. Heather was so welcoming that we decided to stay for a drink. She suggested the Goat Chips with Curry Dipping Sauce as a snack option available at that time of night. She also gave us a number of other recommendations in the area where we may be able to grab some food that late. She was so fantastic at mixing drinks and had such a an awesome personality, that we ended up just staying there and having several drinks and a few baskets of Chips with the fancy Curry Sauce. That sauce is magic. The next day we decided that it was such a great time the night before and the menu was so intriguing that we would go for lunch. Heather was there again showing her amazing skills at drink mixing. We ordered the Beet Reuben, Jack Fruit Tacos, and Spinach Mushroom Pakoras, along with many more drinks. Everything was amazing. The Pakoras are on the Specials menu and I really hope they move them to the regular menu as they were absolutely delightful. I giggled with joy with every bite. So we clearly had to order more of those too. The atmosphere was fun, inviting, and creatively stimulating. With the great music playing, awesome artwork on the walls by Dana Smith, delicious food and drinks, and overall awesomeness of the place, I am happy to say we have a new favorite place in St. Louis. We have also named Heather our favorite Bartender in St. Louis!

Small neighborhood bar with glass brick windows that provide great light and a cozy feel. Warm wood interior, good drink selection, very pleasant wait staff, and a small yet ambitious menu. The back patio is great in the Spring time! I tried the jackfruit tacos — flavorful and spicy without being too hot. And the breaded catfish taco is tops. Nice place!

Royale is best enjoyed when patio weather allows you to have the fantastic and unique cocktails under the moonlight.
But it’s great even when hot or with half a foot of snow on the ground too. There’s just a very obvious peak Royale experience. And that experience is having dirty martinis or a Hemingway Daiquiri while eating jack fruit tacos
