This was hands down the best meal we’ve had in Maui! We stopped here on our way back from the Haleakala National Park. Since we had a late lunch, we decided to go light and shared one appetizer, one entree, one dessert, and two drinks—and every single item was absolutely incredible!

Sashimi Napoleon (Appetizer): A total standout! The wasabi sauce and the crispy wonton chips were the perfect finishing touches.

Chef’s Special (Pan-seared Fresh Caught Kanpachi): The fish was incredibly fresh and perfectly seared. It was served over a bed of risotto that was rich, creamy, and flavorful. A fantastic combination!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake (Dessert): We had to try the famous cake, and it definitely lived up to the hype.

Drinks: Both of our cocktails were fantastic and well-crafted.

Our server was incredibly nice and patient. Knowing we were sharing the entree, they even proactively brought out sharing plates for us—such a thoughtful touch!
Whether you are coming back from Haleakala or finishing the Reverse Road to Hana, this is the perfect spot to refuel. Highly recommend!

Quite possibly the best meal we’ve had on Maui! The sashimi salad is a must and we really enjoyed the pork wontons. For mains, my husband had the fried chicken sandwich and I had the local fish curry (best I’ve had). We both ordered Baja margaritas — the parsley was such a surprisingly delicious touch!!! We’ve tried a lot of restaurants on Maui, and this one is a gem! The staff were incredibly nice; the setting and vibes were perfect; and the food very high quality. We will certainly come back any time we are on the island.

Note: We made a reservation, but I don’t think it’s required – they were busy though (for obvious reasons!) so if you want to ensure you get a table, would recommend reserving. Also, they close 2:30-4:30 between lunch and dinner (Google doesn’t list that).

Best meal on Maui! I haven’t been here in a few years, and boy what a treat it was! I had the macadamia crusted mahi and I rank it 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ My son loved his curry, my husband devoured the delectable ribs. This is definitely the spot for a nice meal, special occasion, or just to treat yourself, because life is sweet!

Farm to table freshness. Every item and drink our party of 4 ordered was delectable and prepared perfectly. I’m a big fan of the burger but it is NOT just another burger. I promise you. The Pineapple Museum and Glass blowing (with free live demonstrations) are a short walk away if you have the time. Well worth a tour of both locations. I recommend making a reservation if you want a table.

Visiting Maui for the first time and stopped by Hali’imaile General Store for lunch on a Tuesday around noon.

I ordered the Soup of the Day (tomato basil) and grilled mahi-mahi. The soup was lukewarm and forgettable. The mahi-mahi was fine with rice, but nothing memorable.

The major issue: a chicken sandwich at our table was served with clearly burnt buns — blackened edges on both halves. It was obvious before it even hit the table.

This could’ve been a 3-star visit, but serving visibly burnt food without acknowledgment or replacement shows poor quality control.

Disappointing experience. Cannot recommend.

Loved this place. Great stop if you’re waiting for a tour of the Maui Gold Plantation (and make sure to ask for a coupon there and you’ll get a discount). Loved the ahi with udon noodles, and the pineapple upside down cake was delicious, but the pineapple burger (with perfectly cooked fries) was incredible.

I recently visited Hali’i Maile General Store, where we ordered the loco moco and the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. For dessert, we chose the lilikoi crème brûlée, and I must say, the food was delicious! The loco moco’s gravy was flavorful, and the chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked not over fried. The lilikoi crème brûlée was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Our server, Mai, was fabulous, attentive and very welcoming. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking out Hali’i Maile General Store.

We had the most amazing dinner here! The team went above and beyond for us — they stayed open late and treated us with such kindness and warmth. A huge thank you to the chefs for the incredible meal, to Matt our server for his attentive and friendly service, and to Michelle the hostess for welcoming us so graciously. You all made our trip even more memorable. We can’t wait to come back and celebrate an anniversary here one day!

The service was hands down great, the food has declined in our option since Bev Gannon sold the business! Nice setting, Maui history surrounds you so it’s worth the drive and money. Geckos greeted us and added a smile to our visit
