Quite enjoyed the original location, so it was only a matter of time before we tried out the new Mountain Brook location. The Rougaroux certainly has maintained its identity; zany, eclectic interior, spacious bar with many fun selections, and big, sloppy po’ boys. There are new specials every weekend–make sure to check their Facebook page! Nice, though small, enclosed patio at the rear. The dining room can get loud when busy, as it was at noon on a Saturday. There was a line to the door to order, though it did move quickly.

Ordered a fried catfish po’ boy, a quarter muffaleta, and bread pudding. The po’ boy was absolutely stuffed, borderline too stuffed, and great as always. The muffaleta was excellent, and a perfect lunch portion. The bread pudding was a bit small for the price, but outstanding in flavor. Looking forward to coming back and continuing to work through the menu!

NOLA vibes in Bham for win! The dining area is very small and big parties may not be easily accomodated. There is a bar with seating in case you just want to watch a game and chill out. We dined in for lunch and tried the daily lunch special for about $12 pp. It is the cajun version a soup & sandwich and it includes a beverage. The portion is not huge but it was for lunch so it is just enough for the average person. We got the cup of sausage & shrimp gumbo option paired with a half shrimp po’ boy. The po’ boy was nice and the cup of gumbo lacked flavor and spice but it was balanced enough for the older community to eat.

We Met friends here for a late lunch and had a great time. Miles was the only person working up front taking orders and delivering food. He did a great job. My wife and I shared a bowl of gumbo mixed and the BBQ Shrimp PoBoy and a side of collard greens (delicious). We also ordered hush puppies with their special sauce. Everything was

This was our first time here. I want to go back today to get another blackened grilled shrimp po boy. It was delicious. I live to far away though. I’ll be back eventually.

I’m from Louisiana and critical of food sold as authentic NOLA. They did it. Rougaroux has the feel of a mom n pop bar/restaurant where I’m from.
I had a half and half po boy, dressed. The owners know the true meaning of “dressed”. It was overstuffed with perfectly cooked shrimp and oysters and quite excellent. The Leidenheimer bread is absolutely correct. (Nothing irritates me more than a po boy on a spongy hoagie roll. That’s called a shrimp sandwich.)
They had succotash today. It was excellent as well.
I’ll be back and will tell friends to come.
Pleased to give a 5 star review. Good job.

I ordered a meal for 16 made up of gumbo, jambalaya and red beans and rice and it was over the top in every way. It was ready at the exact time I requested and they graciously helped me load it into my car.
My dinner guests raved over the food. I will be ordering again! So glad to have this restaurant nearby in Moubtain Brook Village.

I am from New Orleans and I like the cajun food here. Po boys are big and plentiful. Gumbo is ok, not the best. They have beer and soft drinks.

Hole in the wall restaurant with legit Cajun food. We got two poboys; both flavorful and they don’t skimp on the meat. Highly recommend

We were near by and decided to meet my friend here for lunch at Rougaroux. Everything was delicious! I had the shrimp po boy and gumbo. My husband isn’t so big on seafood but also thought the food was delicious. He had the blackened heritage chicken. My kids had the fried boneless chicken and grilled cheese. My friend had the shrimp po boy and a boudin.
