Sadly they were out of the first three things we ordered … but the food we got was still tasty. Shrimp n grits (shrimp was fantastic, grits a little bland), fried chicken is a massive portion, the salmon was well cooked.

We have eaten at the Lexington location several times and have always had a great experience. Last night we ate at the Batesburg location and absolutely regret it. We had the egg rolls for an appetizer (which is normally our favorite) took one bite and realized the middle of them were ice cold. We sent them back thinking mistakes happen and then started eating our mains. As my wife was eating here chicken sandwich she noticed a small bug crawl from under her food. Was about the size of a gnat but didn’t fly (see photo). We did notice a few gnats flying around, but I then saw a small bug on my plate. Stopped eating, paid, and left. Once home we went to bed and I got up a few hours later throwing up and continued the night in the bathroom with other “issues”. I can’t say for sure the food made me sick, but can guess it had something to do with the handling practices maybe. Felt it necessary to leave this as a warning to others as I normally don’t like to leave bad reviews of local businesses, but I may be a bit pissed that I got sick!

Absolutely delicious food! The Root Cellar Burger was an an easy top 5 all time on my burger list. Also had some of the best grits. Maybe a tiny step up on the onion rings would be good. They’re 8/10, but every thing else was 10/10
The staff was amazing. Attentive and friendly while flying around the restaurant.

I tried this place after I drove by their Lexington location a few times and also reading the reviews. I checked out the menu and saw they had great looking southern menu. I had to get their fried green tomatoes which I hadn’t eaten in over 20 years. I didn’t disappoint. It was delicious and fresh. The chipotle ranch sauce was amazing. I definitely will be back for the Shrimp and Grits along with the Soul food egg rolls. The service was great. The atmosphere was nice trendy.

We had lunch here based on a referral from a friend familiar with the area. They didn’t disappoint! The table ordered the egg rolls , which they said were great! Everyone had burgers. I had a black bean burger. I was happy to see vegetarian options. Fries were good! Someone in our party requested a well done burger & it was cooked perfectly to be so thick. Server was attentive. Atmosphere was great! We will be back!

I got the Tuesday lunch special! 7 beautifully fried shrimp with 3 sides for $14! Insanely reasonable and fabulously delicious. The shrimp were perfectly fried! Excellent!

I had the blackened catfish BLT with a side of fried okra. My only critique of the BLT is that I wanted more! The pickled okra that came on top was wonderful. The fried okra was fine. I left content.

The locals know about this place and it’s a hidden gem to everyone else! Fabulous meat and 3 vegetable, or a steak, pork chop or even a Reuben sandwich. Very fair prices, and great customer service. Don’t let this one get away!
