If you’re looking for a little dose of nostalgia, The Root Beer Stand is the place to be!
The kids absolutely love grabbing hotdogs, sipping on root beer floats, and finishing it off with a round of putt putt — it’s such a simple joy!
It’s places like this that make our community feel a little more magical.

The staff and food here are absolutely killer!!! Everyone is very polite, professional, and friendly! The hand dipped milkshakes are awesome, get the butter pecan and thank me later!
They also redid the course, batting cages, and business beautifully!
So nice to see local businesses sticking around and giving an awesome atmosphere for families of all sizes!

My dad and I got our dinner from the root beer stand this evening. I had the sloppy Joe, the Mac and cheese, and the pretzels with beer cheese. My dad got the chili cheese dogs with onions. We split the pretzels and beer cheese and Mac and cheese it was more than enough for the 2 of us. His only complaint was that he felt like I wasted my money on the 2nd hot dog as the 1st one filled him up. The sloppy Joe tastes about as homemade as you can get it is so good and the sandwich was so big. The pretzels were just lightly crisp on the outside soft warm and delicious on the inside. The warm beer cheese was the absolute perfect compliment to the pretzels. It was awesome and I think this will be our new weekly stop.

Pretty standard american food. We both had burgers which were okay but nothing really impressive. Will come back to get coneys. The tots were expertly fried and deep golden brown- they stole the show.
Edited to respond and add that extra star- because they cared enough to ask. I think the only thing lacking in the burger was possibly seasoning the patty. Toppings were good and fresh and bun was very good. This could also be on me as I may have been able to request well done or extra seasoning. Im no burger master myself- but typically in my old neck of the woods we often got burgers from Swensons or Culvers so that would be my basis of comparison. The fact that you asked how to be better speaks to the commitment you clearly have to making great food and that definitely deserves the extra star on my review. Keep up the good work!

This place is a gem, great quality food, friendly people and I love the nostalgia! It’s an amazing addition that was brought back to life, while maintaining all of its original charm, for our Indian Lake community and visitors from all around to enjoy. It’s a must try! The foot longs are enormous and delicious and the Shell Yeah burger is the best! And don’t forget about the RootBeer floats, so yummy, brings you back to being a kid, Don’t miss out!

If you are looking for some good old times vibes and good food, and root beer, this is the place for you. On our first visit, we order a platter which included a side and small drink. We had the foot long with some fries and onion rings. There are at least three root beers, Mug, IBC, and Barq’s from which to choose. The fries were a tad salty and limp, but serviceable I wish they had a crispy crinkle cut. That would fit the vibe better. The onion rings were top notch, nice solid onion inside, wonderfully battered and crispy on the outside. The footlong hotdog was great. I asked for spicy mustard, but just got a side of yellow. I look forward to returning and trying their burgers.

Happened upon this seasonal stand on a Monday which meant free miniature golf. We only got ice cream treats as it was midafternoon and we were hot from a bit of shore fishing. The marquee stated $0 golf on Mondays, and so it was. The ice cream was usual fare for places like this sundaes and a float were purchased. I’m not sure what the cost of the golf would be. The course is handmade and represents some area businesses.

Food was awesome but I forgot to order a drink after I stood in line for 25 minutes. So I asked the lady if I could order one when I got my food and she told me no I have to go back in line and order so it really sucked eating my burger and fries with a dry mouth.

Edit since our first visit: We’ve been back since and we had really hoped things would improve since our last visit. We contributed the flaws to being new and sorting through growing pains. However, the service is still incredibly slow. Our order came out wrong or missing items. The chili was bland and had no flavor. What happened to the old recipe? The fries were greasy and soggy, and the shredded chicken was nothing to write home about. As mentioned previously by other patrons, the prices need to come down a notch based off the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. Hopefully they’ll take the feedback and put it to good use.
First Visit:
Great little spot to grab a bite to eat. We tried the chili cheese dog, shredded chicken, and fries. All good. Looking forward to making this a frequent stop on our trips to the lake.
