Let me start by saying that I don’t normally write reviews, but this place definitely deserves one. The River used to be a very good place to eat, but in the past few months it has really went downhill. Went in today for a MEDIUM RARE steak and french fries. I received six (6)!!!! fries.. they were burnt as well. The medium rare steak I ordered actually came out well done. Definitely not edible. Very similar to something I’d feed my dog, if I hated it lol. I will never be back, and neither should you.

I felt sorry for the server. The kitchen was incompetent and costing her. They were more concerned with a large party and forgot about the others. We ordered appetizers the same time as we ordered our meal. After appetizers were done they forgot the rest of the order. We waited over an hour after ordering to get our meal and when if finally came out some of it was cold or burned. It was substandard at best. Will not go back.

Just tried to eat here for the first time to see if it was worth it, trust me it’s not. I got a $30 pasta to-go, was ready quick which was great. I got there there and paid, left a little tip, receipt checked out with what I ordered— get all the way home and it’s the completely wrong pasta. Not even going to try again, what a complete waste of money.

Despite reading recent multiple one star reviews this first time visit was excellent. Out of first choice steak item the substitute ribeye was perfectly cooked and of ample per portions! Service was excellent and seating in front room to the right of entrance was quite but still allowed viewing of guest musicians. Definitely will return on the next Batesville trip!

Beautiful restaurant but steak was 33 for a Bananza steak. It was cold, thin, and overcooked. Service is slow. Ordered guacamole and never got it. Had to ask for rolls. Would not recommend.
