Our experience at this restaurant was underwhelming, especially considering the price and the reputation. The food simply wasn’t very good. Several dishes felt like the chef was trying to be creative for the sake of creativity, but the ingredients didn’t work together in a balanced way. Flavors clashed rather than complemented each other. A few dishes were passable, but nothing stood out in a memorable way, and one of our desserts never arrived.

Service also fell short. Our bill was inconsistent — we were charged a different amount the second day than what we had originally been given. We requested a kitchen tour and never received any response. At multiple points, there were no servers on the floor; it looked like the staff were overextended and constantly pulled into the back, which left the dining room unattended for long stretches.

Overall, the experience wasn’t terrible, but for a fine-dining restaurant at this price level, it missed the mark on both food and service. It’s not a place I would recommend based on our visit, and in my view, it’s not worth the hype or the cost.

I looked for a Michelin star restaurant in Paso Robles to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I stumbled across The Restaurant at Justin, read the various reviews and made our reservations.

It does require a $100 deposit per person that is refunded on arrival.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted and treated with fantastic hospitality.

We had opted for the Chef’s Choice and wine pairing and were delighted with every single course. I had wished I had taken photos of every course but was initially concerned with not showing class. After a certain point, I no longer cared. The food appearance and taste were just too fantastic to care.

I had taken my wife to a Michelin star restaurant in Italy when we first started dating in Italy 30 years ago. We were eager to experience the same service and culinary quality. We were not disappointed.

As we decided with the Chef’s menu, it was a set meal with wine pairing.

Each course that arrived looked like a piece of artwork. The wine pairing was excellent, my only recommendation would be to advise the patron that one glass would be paired with one or two courses. As there wasn’t a pour per each course, and you were required to gauge what wine was for what courses.

The views were also fantastic as the restaurant was nestled in rolling hills of the vineyard and reminded me of Northern Italy.

Book in advance and enjoy the best of Paso Robles.

Reservations are needed with $100 deposit.

Facility is clean and well maintained.

Staff is professional and knowledgeable about the food being served. Chef has wide range of culinary knowledge and experience before leading this kitchen.

The courses take you on a journey of the California golden coast. Allows you to taste the local offerings through team to table concept.

Sommelier’s wine pairings are exceptional, really marries the savior flavors of the food with the tartness of the wines.

Overall 5/5

Best of luck on Star #2

It’s a wonderful restaurant and definitely a 5 star experience. To be honest though, it was my least favorite Michelin Starred restaurant so far. But since they are all great, it still gets 5 stars.

Service was impeccable, food was good with a couple of great dishes too. My primary issue is cost..

It was 225 for dinner = 110 for the wine pairing. I’ve just had other Top tier restaurants that felt more fair in their cost. And 110 for the wine pairing w/ the tiny pours feels too high. Should have just bought like 3 bottles for the table and shared them.

The service was excellent, but the culinary skills, creativity, and presentation of the dishes were lacking. Unfortunately, the flavors and appearance did not meet expectations. It seems the kitchen struggles to transform high-quality ingredients into exceptional dishes. Each dish was either tasteless or dry, and the presentation was unappealing to the point where I didn’t even want to take any more photos.

There are so many bees. I couldn’t eat outside. Bees rushed every plate. I didn’t enjoy the food and wine. After all, we changed the table I could afford to eat the dishes. Hamburger was really, really good. Pasta is so chewy. But salmon is Soso, not crispy.

Wonderful Michelin-star restaurant. We did the tasting menu + wine pairing and everything was truly special. If there’s a place where I’d highly recommend the wine pairing experience that would be it! Atmosphere, dish presentation and service were also excellent. Thanks to the whole staff for the wonderful experience.
P.s. the cheese soufflé (cooked to perfection) was my favourite dish

Justin’s truly deserves its Michelin star for culinary excellence. From the amuse-bouche to dessert, each dish was exquisitely prepared and presented. The flavors were bold yet balanced – I especially enjoyed the Japanese A5 Wagyu Rib Eye and Local Halibut. What’s more, the complimentary petit fours were a sweet surprise. While the bill reflected the fine dining experience, it was worth every penny. Thank you Justin and team for the awesome dinner – I’ll be back!

Our four hour experience, on a perfect Spring evening, at an outdoor table (heated), w phenomenal & gracious (yet relaxed & personal) service, is one we shall long remember. Six unexpected Amuse-Bouches arrived at timely intervals, each interesting, satisfying and a prelude to the following course. All were paired with generous portions of seven different wines and limitless on-site reverse osmosis water (or fruit Mocktails). The presentations from Executive Chef Rachel Haggstrom and Pastry Chef Saree Musick reflected the newly earned Michelin Star & Green Star, while the service championed by Jason Santos reflects the honor of the Five Star Forbes rating – all told, one of 75 with this combination of awards & leadership.

Visited 5/5/2022 for dinner to celebrate a birthday and the experience was much more than we expected. We appreciated the pre fixe menu along with the suggested wine pairing. Amazing service from our host, server, and sommelier. Beautiful experience overall with the Michelin guide restaurant!

Left with two bottles of wine. Wish we could have left with a tub of the delicious butter.
