Great place to grab a brew or a drink and relax. Place is very spacious and staff was on point. Almost never was I waiting for something as this place was jammed packed. The band that played was amazing and the acoustics in the space works out great. I removed a star for my entree was pretty weak for the price. Mixed grill was very disappointing for $33. I have the picture attached. The other food and tuna poke was really fresh and good which I would order over and over again. The crab ravioli was really good and creamy well done. I’ll be going back but avoiding the one dish mentioned earlier. The fries where additional and didn’t come with the meal.

We attended a family event at the Reef. As vegans, we were concerned that our dietary needs could not be accommodated at a steak and seafood place, but we were guests at the event with no hand in choosing the venue. My husband called ahead and was told they would try to accommodate us and to let the server know. The staff was absolutely wonderful in making sure we had something to eat and even checked on us several times to make sure we were doing well. The Reef went above and beyond in customer service. The food they prepared for us was perfect – thank you so much!

I’m on a road trip just passing through. I was looking for a seafood restaurant that was not a corporate chain. I saw a sign for the Reef Seafood and Steak restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware, and I went there. I had the calamari and the sea scallops. They were both delicious! I was so glad I stopped. My waitress was very friendly and professional.

I recently visited The Reef Seafood & Steak in Wilmington, DE for a date night, and my experience was a mix of strong service but underwhelming food and atmosphere.
To start with the positives, the customer service was excellent. The staff was attentive, professional, and accommodating throughout the evening. Their willingness to prepare a chicken alfredo dish—despite it not being listed on the menu—showed flexibility and good hospitality.
However, the food itself was only average. Most of the dishes tasted more like something I could have made at home rather than having the distinct, elevated flavor you expect from a restaurant that presents itself as upscale. The flounder was especially disappointing, lacking the quality and flavor I anticipated. While the shrimp alfredo was on the menu, it was surprising that a simple “chicken or shrimp” option wasn’t listed, especially since the kitchen was clearly capable of preparing it. Small menu details like that can make a big difference in the overall dining experience.
The visual appeal of the restaurant also fell short. The booth we were seated in had ripped leather seats, which was unappealing and not what I expected based on the restaurant’s online presentation. For a place that appears to position itself as a more formal or upscale dining option, these kinds of cosmetic issues stand out and take away from the ambiance.
It’s worth noting that the restaurant seems to host live performances at night, which shows it has a lot of potential to create a great atmosphere. With some updates to the menu, improvements to food quality, and repairs or touch-ups to the seating and interior, The Reef could easily elevate the overall experience.
At the moment, though, while the service was excellent, the food and environment didn’t quite match the expectations set by the restaurant’s appearance and reputation. A little extra care and attention could go a long way.

I had the all you can eat crabs for $55 and it’s really not all you can eat. They start you off with two crab clusters then bring you one like every 20 minutes and you can tell they really don’t wanna give too many probably because of the cost but once I got to 6 clusters it was like “it’s time to go” lol. Food is good but don’t go here for all you can eat crabs. They will make you feel unwelcome after about 4 clusters and they take too long just to bring you one cluster at a time

Place is way bigger than I imagined from the front. They have a stage for live music, there was none while we were there. I ordered snow crab legs they were good, but a bit over cooked. The old bay fries that come with them were just okay. Overall, food was good!

Had their mussels, and my god were they extremely salty. Had to pour half my water into the bowl to water it down. Got another dish got REEF MIXED GRILL for $33, and you know what I got? Two VERY small scallops that you can get bigger at Walmart, three shrimps also can get my self a whole bag at an ACME, and a half-potato-sized cod that I myself could finish in one bite. Like I haven’t been this baffled by “quantity-portion” size of a dish at a restaurant in really long time. And as for their most expensive steak, the ribeye… My god, had to be the most god damn dry steak in my life. No juices were seeping out of it and chewy like literal gum. Had to spit half of it into my napkin nonstop. $41 for it too, god dammit. Didn’t say nothing because it was my first meal of the day and ate some stuff due to starving plus it ain’t like I’m coming back ever. Should’ve went to Texas Roadhouse instead for this price and quality.

Looking for a decent seafood place near Wilmington. Had a large (10) party and a grandma with limited mobility. Called ahead, got us in on a Saturday night. Easy to find. Easy parking. Great service. Great food. Scallops were excellent. Crab cakes excellent. Halibut tasty. Mahi yummy. Fish n chips great execution. Would come back in a heartbeat.
