My bestie, a Boston local, could not wait to bring me to The Red Fox! Having been once before he knew to make a reservation well in advance of my visit and spent the better part of two months talking the place up. To say that I had lofty expectations would have been an understatement. Approaching the unassuming door to what appeared to be an office of some sort had me questioning his sanity, yet I trust him, so we descended the staircase and entered into an entirely different world. The ambiance is something I could only dream for experiencing. The low lighting, crimson decor, and quaint seating arrangements were chef’s kiss. Wait, I may have used chef’s kiss too soon because I haven’t even gotten to the food yet. We got two appetizers in true “treat yo self” fashion: Arancini and Strangolapretti. While the Arancini was probably the best I’ve ever tasted, the strangolapretti is probably one of the best foods I have ever tasted. Anywhere. Ever. I dream about how delicious it was. We split the lasagna because it was huge and again… perfect! The waitstaff were beyond wonderful. And my favorite thing was the inspired wallpaper in the bathroom. This place is a must try, worth the wait, and if you choose not to go, you’re missing out!

I loved the concept of this restaurant. Below street level, on commercial street with very small signage. It was difficult to get a reservation around dinner time. Had to reserve a week or so before. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. The restaurant itself was fun and romantic but dark lighting with accents of red light. We ordered the meatballs to start which were average. For entrees we ordered the pesto pasta and the Bolognese. Both were very unpleasant and I could not eat more than one bite. The pasta was extremely hard and the flavor was bland. I would not recommend for food, however a drink at the bar would be fun.

Cozy atmosphere with good service and cocktails, we especially liked the sour apple martini. Unfortunately our pasta was undercooked, but our group enjoyed the Prosciutto & Zeppole and Tuna Crudo appetizers. Would go back!

This is our first time in Boston and we happened to grab a drink at The Red Fox. It completely exceeded our expectations and was so much fun. Abby was fantastic and literally made the best cocktails we’ve ever had. Super good spot for an elevated cocktail experience (just hit Mr Dooleys after)!!

I’ve been waiting a couple of months to eat here. Always busy.
Decided to go with my mom and boyfriend.
The space is very nice and looks better than the pictures.
The drinks and service were top notch.
I wasn’t really impressed with the food. I’ve lived in the North End for years and food didn’t match the price. I’ve eaten at better places where the food is priced at 20 or less.
I do believe the TikTok popularity is building this place up. Plus the ambiance.
I’d go again for drinks and that’s it. Think you can get better food elsewhere.

I went on a Monday night right at opening. It was quiet but lovely. The staff, David specifically, is amazing, attentive and created a great environment. Red Fox should be a must stop place for everyone

The vibe was nice with its speakeasy-esque atmosphere. The service was attentive and overall really good. The food was run of the mill Italian which honestly did not stand out to me and I found the drinks to be a bit expensive but overall had good flavors. Mocktails were nice to see as I had some people in my party who do not drink. The bar area looked like a nice vibe with some good selection of whisky and wine.

I really wanted to like this place since it’s so highly recommended, but the experience was disappointing. We had to flag down a server to order, our drinks never came, and after waiting we just had them removed. The pasta was undercooked and chewy with watery sauce, and the meatballs were lukewarm in cold sauce. Overall a terrible experience and not worth returning.

We visited the Red Fox for dinner last night and loved it! The vibes here are immaculate. To start, we had arancini which were fantastic and had great flavor. For our mains, two of us had the vodka pasta, and one had the carbonara. The portion sizes are perfect & leave you just full enough! Highly recommend.

Well, I finally made it to The Red Fox.
1- make a reservation
2- make it a date night whether with your partner or friends. The overall vibe is sexy!
3- come hungry, the main portions are huge and enough for two.
My experience I was notified my table was ready thirty minutes before my arrival and asked to confirm. Loved
Walked in and the lights were dim and the space I thought was small until I was led into another section. We were greeted promptly by our waitress and she was great. We started with an oldie-but-goodie sour apple martini which was mixed perfectly. For appetizers, we had freshly made focaccia bread with olives and oli, meatballs, Cesar salad, and prosciutto & zeppoli. My favorite was the prosciutto & zeppoli which was drizzled with honey. The meatballs were good, but my least favorite was the Cesar salad. For our main dinner, I opted for the pineapple sazerac which reminded me of a Caribbean snack. For food consumption, we had the seafood risotto and the bolognese. The risotto was perfectly cooked but the bolognese was just ok. It needed some freshly grated cheese or pepper flakes to give it that extra punch. I ended the meal with their pistachio & gelato martini. The blend was something I did not know I needed. It was the alcoholic affogato is the best way to describe it without being milky.
Would I go back? Yes, the overall vibe and service were great. Plus where else could I get my new must-have prosciutto & zeppoli.
