We were regular guests at the old Ranch House. After it was sold we never went when the new owners took over. We were so excited to hear the Ranch House was opening again and bringing back the salad bar, popovers, and some of the all you can eat specials. We couldn’t wait to try it! We tried it tonight, Labor Day, and were greeted by a very nice hostess. She showed us our table and said our server would be with us shortly. After waiting 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging we were sitting there, I went to the bar and got myself a glass of wine. I asked the bartender if she could direct the server to our table. I finished my glass of wine and we left without ever having anyone acknowledging we were there, giving us water, taking a drink order, much less a dinner order. We won’t be back. Unfortunately, you only have one chance to make a first impression. I wish the new owner good luck – they will need it!

The waitress and hostess were wonderful! The chef came out to inquire exactly how we wanted our steak cooked and was very willing to accommodate my food allergies. He also came out after the food was cooked to make sure it was done to our liking. The only concern we had was the beautifully cut ribeye did not have the amount of marbling and tenderness we would’ve liked however that was certainly not the fault of the chef who cooked it just as we ordered it. The vegetables were cooked precisely crisp tender and very fresh and the potato was nice and tender. The salad bar is very extensive. Overall a wonderful date night and quite reasonable!

The much needed remodel of the Ranch House was/is very attractive. Our party of 8 had reservations and were promptly seated. From there, things went down hill. At least 10 minutes passed before our drink order was taken (they weren’t that busy). The French onion burgers were mediocre at best. The $7.00 house Chardonnay was terrible. We ask for a “name brand” Chard replacement which was better but, ridiculous at $12.00 per-glass. After serving our food our server never returned to see if everything was alright or replenish drinks. Total bill for 3 drinks and two burgers….$50.31 Ouch!

We were recommended to go to RH supper club while we were on vacation on Friday, September 9, 2016. We were really excited about the rave reviews we heard on the scallops and French onion soup. We also were told that we would get a pile of freshly baked rolls upon arrival… (Still waiting for those! )We decided to give it a try – we wanted a GREAT dinner for our anniversary weekend.
On arrival we were welcomed by an empty foyer and desk. Minutes later a server walked past and said somebody would be right with us. She came back and brought us to a quiet table at the back of the house. Nice, private. There was only two other filled tables in the restaurant at 6pm on a Friday. (Warning!) so why wasn’t there a host(ess) there to welcome us!?
Our waitress never introduced herself and seemed uninterested in making us feel comfortable and every interaction with her was quick and she walked away while talking with us. Hmm.
we ordered French onion soup and chicken wild soup. The onion soup was hot and wild rice soup warm. Why the difference in soup temps?
We also ordered a glass of wine each. They arrived in the smallest wine glasses!! Not sure we got our money’s worth there…
Now to our entrees! We (obviously) ordered the scallops! We wanted to try the best on their menu! (And at $23 a plate this was going to be awesome, right?!?) we also ordered the pot roast. I wanted yummy comfort food.
Well, again – the scallops were warm, definitely not fresh off the grill. They did not have sear that makes a scallop so wonderful! The risotto served with it was lacking salt. $23 for that?!?
And then the pot roast was also warm. All the veggies and meat were edible right away. and the sauce over it was thick, waaay too salty and also warm.
We decided to leave soon after we paid our $67 bill.
We decided not to say anything at dinner and just tried to enjoy our night. Later the next day I felt it right to bring up my concerns to the owner/manager so they could know their shortcoming and to make their restaurant better! I called on Saturday September 10, 2016 around the dinner hour to make sure a manager would be available. The owner (chef, manager) answered. I started talking and asked if I could relay our previous evening. She quickly interrupted me and said she had orders up, that she could call me back to hear me out. She asked if she could call me back, and jotted my name and number down (??), after 8 because she “really did want to talk and see what was wrong”
It’s after 10pm with no call from the owner.
Very disappointed with the service from this establishment.

Our meals were fantastic! The potatoes au gratin were the best I’ve ever had; you can tell they used the best cheeses. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is diverse and unique for the area. Great atmosphere too; Clean and modern yet a little rustic. Several fireplaces make it cozy. Well worth the trip!

Salad bar plates were dirty, had to pick through to find a clean one. All you Can eat fish wasnt very good tasting and worst of all my ribs came out ice cold, sent them back, after a long wait (after the rest of the table was done eating) I got my same plate of ribs that were hardly luke warm. The waitress didn’t come back to check on us for drinks or ask how the food was until she was bringing the bill. I would not recommend this place to anyone and we will not be back. Unfortunate because we used to love the Ranch House years ago.

The new owners have made amazing changes to the entire dining experience at the
Ranch House, from the front door to the last delicious bite of dessert. I dined with 5 friends and we shared appetizers and tastes of each other’s entrees so we could all get to experience the many fantastic dishes. I will certainly come back many times so I can enjoy the ambiance, the excellent service and the perfect menu. I am looking forward to enjoying the deck this summer also!

Had dinner at the Ranch House Saturday night with some friends. Surprised at the remodel – CLEAN – cloth napkins but normal dining – didn’t know about new owners. Surprised at the negative local traffic reviews – prices not that high – good choices. Menu has items from sandwiches and burgers to food like my gram makes to steaks and walleye. I had a decent portion of potroast for $16 – really good – tender. We also tried the pot pie – great flaky crust on top – only $13. Also tried bison shortribs – will order this next time – and walleye blt – both were awesome and the price was right. Basket of hot bread came with meal – great with gravy. HUGE selection of tap beer – surprised at # of craft – around 10. Waitress (Liza) was great – good food, good time, good beer and good service – will go back!

the Ranch House is open again! and serving popovers! and a complete salad bar! yay!
they have reopened under new ownership. a brave new venture with new staff. they have a few hiccups to work through. some organizational wrinkles to iron out but the food was great. our server Brandon was amazing in the midst of a melodrama… he was honest, sincere and dedicated to his service to the customer. all of the staff we saw were giving 150%. they were short staffed in the kitchen… so the melodrama was frustrating… and thats being gracious…. but everyone was doing their best to push through.
i recommend being patient. give them the time to work out the growing pains. the popovers are worth the wait!
WELCOME BACK!

When we first walked in (5:30 – so not busy yer). We asked if we could see the outside area before we were seated there as we had requested on the phone reservation. The woman who created us almost rolled her eyes and said she would try to find us a table inside. Now there were 15 of us – but there were only 2 tables occupied at that time so it wasn’t difficult to find a table. SHe huffed and puffed and go us another table. We ordered and the food took 35 minutes to arrive. The popovers were burned and cold. The salad bar had the sadest looking lettuce I’ve ever seen. One of our family had to send her dinner back because it was cold. We decided to order dessert – the waitress never cleared our dirty dishes – just served the dessert. The food was OK – not exceptional but with other negatives – oh my I would never go back.
