Took a trip and this is an amazing BBQ spot that we stumbled on! The atmosphere is relaxed with a sliding barn door entrance, quirky down to earth seating with a fireplace on one end and a very nicely heated patio.

The food was absolutely phenomenal, filling, and we were surprised find local craft brews as well.

The banana pudding, I was told, has won awards. I definitely see why! Om nom NOM!

The Purple Daisy Picnic Café in Chattanooga is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive — truly some of the best service we’ve experienced. We had a party of seven, and every single person enjoyed their meal.

The BBQ was outstanding — not greasy, not dry, and packed with perfect flavor. It’s clear they take pride in what they serve. The atmosphere is warm, family-friendly, and relaxed, making it a great spot for groups or families.

All of this comes at a very fair and reasonable price. If you’re looking for great BBQ in the Chattanooga area, this is your stop. Highly recommend!

We were coming back from a side road trip on our vacation and I almost skipped over this place while searching for a restaurant to eat at. The outside is a bit quirky and to be honest, the photos of the food – meh. But the reviews were fantastic and so we gave it a go. Boy are we glad we did!

My family ordered the smoked chicken salad, chef salad, stuffed potato and baked beans. The salads were huge. My oldest daughter and I shared a stuffed potato as we weren’t really hungry. They let us have both smoked chicken and pulled pork on ours. The chicken was perfectly smoked, juicy and tender as was the pulled pork. Sometimes restaurants over smoke their meats and then I feel like I am chewing on a briquet. The Purple Daisy was not this way at all, again it was perfectly smoked. The potato also had sour cream and the fixins on it. The potato was nearly the size of a football and we did not even eat it all. We chose to use both of the BBQ sauces they had on the table.

The server was nice and had great suggestions.

If we vacation near here again we will come back!

Nice atmosphere with the kindest staff. Parking can be difficult since the parking lot is so small. Had ordered ribs which was served dry. You choose the sauce which was sweet, spicy, or original. We tried all 3 bbq sauces and they were so bland. Hardly a difference in flavor. The meat was cooked tender and soft but absolutely no flavor or season. The corn was soft cooked right but not sweet wassoever. My husband had the regular coleslaw and spicy. He said the coleslaw had very light seasoning and dry. The spicy coleslaw he enjoyed. It was moist and flavorful.
The Texas toast was delicious. Everything else had no flavor. Thought this was some soul food but it is not. I do not recommend this place for good and flavorful food.

If you’re anywhere near St. Elmo, The Purple Daisy Café needs to be on your list! From the moment we walked in, the place had that cozy, neighborhood feel — super friendly staff, quick service, and they kept our drinks refilled without us even having to ask. Felt like we were regulars even on our first visit.

Now the food… wow. The banana pudding is hands-down the best ever — creamy, dreamy, and unforgettable. The stuffed potato is HUGE and loaded with goodness, and the piggy sliders were smoky, tender, and absolutely delicious.

I’m always on the lookout for amazing local spots like this — if you love hidden gems and good eats, like my pics and follow my foodie adventures! Let’s keep spreading the word about places that do it right

We visited after a trip to Rock City and this was a fun find. There is onsite parking that was easily accessible. The little purple diner is decorated with a fun mix of decor and the staff was all very friendly and attentive. We opted to eat outside. My husband ordered a large rib basket and potato salad while I had a chicken sandwich topped with cole slaw. The house BBQ sauces were perfect for both the ribs and the chicken. We enjoyed the flavor of the two mixed together. The potato salad was a hit as was the regular cole slaw on the sandwich. It was a nice find with great food, a unique atmosphere and friendly staff. I would definitely return again if we were in the area.

Small bbq place at base of rock before heading to rock garden. Depending on time of day a solid stop on way in or out. Pretty good selection and my pulled pork was very good. The smoked chicken was just ok and could be quickly overwhelmed by other flavors. Probably best alone. Solid Cole slaw. I like the atmosphere it’s a bit beat up like a bbq place should be.

We love the food and the quirky decorations inside. Outside seating has plastic roll down so cold isn’t a problem, but has inside seating as well. The young many who helps the waitress does not seem to do a lot for customers, but he works his butt off helping waitress. Food came out very fast and tasted amazing. We come every time we are In Chattanooga
