A must while in LA for plane enthusiasts! Inside and out, this place delivers. Enjoy a massive variety of food options inside and out, airplane hanger vibes with planes landing at LAX above. Fully licensed as well! Perfect for a date, families or even a special event…. And I heard an Arcade is coming!

I’ve been coming to The Proud Bird near LAX for 20+ years. Over that time, the food has definitely changed, but for the most part it’s always stayed *good*. Never the best food in the area, but consistently solid and perfect for a quick lunch. That reliability is what kept me coming back.

Unfortunately, I think they’ve taken a real turn for the worse with the installation of these ordering kiosks.

Not only do you now have to stand there and figure out how to use them, but nothing about the process is clear. The menus aren’t intuitive, the flow doesn’t make sense, and to top it off, the credit card machine was literally upside down. It took me three different cards before I finally realized what was going on. That’s not “modern convenience” — that’s frustration.

I don’t mind change when it improves the experience, but this does the opposite. It slows everything down, removes the human interaction, and makes what used to be an easy stop unnecessarily annoying.

After more than two decades of visits, this was unfortunately my last. Disappointing way to end a long run with a place I used to enjoy.

Unique, aircraft themed restaurant, located at LAX runway. It’s an aerophile dream eatery.
I had the Cubano sandwich with onion rings. Sandwich was good, but fairly small portion. The onion rings were coated in a very sweet batter.
It has kind of a food court layout, with various choices available (BBQ, pizza, burgers, etc).
Prices were on the high side, considering the portion, with no table service (order and food pickup yourself). I found the posted menu very difficult to read, but the counter guy suggested I use the nearby QR code to look at choices (good idea).
Won’t return soon, but may stop by, if in the area.

I took my son to The Proud Bird, and we had cheese pizza . They don’t have many vegetarian options, but they offer great choices for meat lovers. It’s a wonderful place to host a kids’ birthday party. The view is amazing—you can watch planes landing and taking off. My son absolutely loved the experience and now wants to have his birthday party there with his school friends. Overall, a fun place with good food and a great atmosphere.

Great place for all ages! Lots of variety for food and drinks (alcoholic and Starbucks menus)! They even have ice cream bars for hot days 🙂 My child had fun watching the airplanes land and take off and I enjoyed looking at the historical displays. I would come as often as I could if I lived nearby and had a younger child 🙂
Oh and parking is plenty and free!

Great place if you love aviation history and good food. Basically this historical place was a restaurant turned into a food court with lots of amazing choices.

Great display of historic aircraft and aviation military history and great plane spotting joint.

I had no food and got coffee and unfortunately to no fault of the person working as bartender, server and barista it (took 30 mins plus to get the order done) as she was the only one in behind the counter and bar for just two coffee specialty drinks
drinks

Otherwise amazing place.

Bludso’s BBQ is in The Proud Bird, an aviation-themed food hall. The ambiance and environment is amazing with planes all over the place.

But the food doesn’t match the ambiance. The brisket had amazing flavor but was mostly fatty chunks. Cornbread was dry and didn’t have much flavor, definitely not a fan.

Overall, if you have kids, they’ll love this place. But if you’re coming for the food, you will likely not be a fan.

Food was great, but a bit on the pricy end, to be expected for the location though, the service was great and food came out super fast, this is a great place to watch planes landing and planespot

The Proud Bird is a fantastic spot, especially if you’re visiting with a group or have kids in tow. There’s a wide variety of food options to choose from, which makes it easy to please everyone. The parking situation is great—plenty of space, so no stress when arriving.

What really sets this place apart is how family-friendly it is. There’s a huge outdoor area where kids can run around, explore old airplanes, and enjoy the playground. It’s a perfect venue for large gatherings or casual outings with friends and family.

One of the highlights is the amazing up-close view of planes landing at LAX. If you’re into aviation—or even just mildly curious—it adds a unique and exciting touch to the experience.

That said, service can be slower during peak times. You may need to check in at the food counters, as alerts for when your food is ready aren’t always reliable. It’s something to keep in mind, especially if you’re juggling kids or visiting when it’s busy.

Overall, The Proud Bird offers great food, fun for kids, and a cool, aviation-themed atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else. Highly recommended for families and large groups!

This is an awesome spot to bring your little ones to play while watching planes land up close. The food isn’t great, but there are more than enough options for the kids.
