Social Profile:

For more than four decades, The Press Room has been your spot for an afternoon pint and a bite to eat, a night out with friends, and your live music fix. We spent a year repairing, renovating, and making improvements—while staying true to the spirit of the place—to ensure we can create memories here for decades to come. But the most important part of The Press Room isn’t the space itself. It’s the people that keep coming back, to share a drink or take the stage. It’s the community of musicians and artists, performers and listeners, who’ve made this the place we know and love.

Intimate hangout for live music, beer & inventive pub fare in exposed-brick & wood quarters.

We hosted our surprise wedding at The Press Room — yes, you read that right! What our guests thought was an engagement party turned into a full wedding ceremony and reception, and the entire Press Room team embraced our crazy idea from day one.

Julia, the event coordinator, was an absolute dream to work with. Her organization, flexibility, and kindness made the entire planning process seamless, especially given the unique nature of our event. The rest of the team was equally wonderful—everyone was so accommodating and genuinely excited to be part of such a special night.

The food was delicious, the espresso martinis were amazing, and the hospitality was top tier across the board.

We cannot recommend The Press Room enough for private events. Whether it’s a birthday, a corporate gathering, or—in our case—a secret wedding, you’re in incredible hands. Thank you for making our day so special!

We met friends for drinks and food and decided to check out The Press Room. When we walked in, it wasn’t very busy and there were several open tables. We sat at the bar at first but realized we wanted to chat more easily, so we moved to a table before ordering. Unfortunately, it took about 25 minutes before anyone came over. Multiple servers walked by without acknowledging us until someone finally stopped, apologized, and mentioned there had been a miscommunication.

The vibes were chill and the seasonal cocktails were definitely a highlight. I got the Baby Spice which was delicious, just a bit small. For food, we ordered the pretzel bites, a chicken Caesar wrap, and the coconut curry (no protein). Honestly, everything tasted pretty bland for the price. Presentation was nice, but nothing really stood out as memorable.

Overall, it was just okay, not terrible, but not impressive. I’d likely go back for drinks, but not for the food.

came for a show, left because although we spent money on tickets and they sold a limited amount of tickets, there is absolutely no room to sit. If you’re a venue who sells a certain limited amount of tickets for a show, make sure you have enough room for the ticket holders to actually be able to enjoy the show they paid for. People were hovering and sitting on the stairs leading to the upstairs balcony area, completely blocking it for emergency fire escape in case of emergencies.
Limited beer and drinks menus for a venue that brings in a band to play.
Waste of time and money in my opinion. If you want to see a show, head to the Portsmouth music hall, Jimmys Jazz club or Hampton beach casino and avoid the Pressroom.

Stopped here for a few drinks before having dinner at a nearby restaurant. My husband described this place as an upscale dive bar with craft cocktails, what looked like fantastic bar food with large portions, and an age-diverse hip crowd.

Our bartender was friendly and the drinks were great. I had the Mango Crazy (a perfect mix of sweet and spicy) and my husband had the Fiction 101.

Really fun place. Great bartenders, music, and food. We sat at the bar and Lincoln was our bartender. Very talented and friendly. We tried a couple of different cocktails and all were very well made. Only got the chance to have an appetizer but it was perfect. I would absolutely go back here next time I’m in town.

Caught a great show at the Press Room this weekend and was delighted with the experience. We’ve lived in the area forever and I honestly didn’t even know there was a venue above the bar!

We will definitely be on the lookout for more local artists and bands playing at the Press Room in the future.

First off, I love the vibe of the Pressroom! Food has nothing but improved; the $31 Beef Wellington was absolutely to die for!!! One waitress knows nothing about Customer is always right, nothing but her self. Still, I recommend the Pressroom for everything else, especially the productions.

We just had a great evening at the Press Room at 77 Daniel St in Portsmouth, NH. It was our first visit. We were in the upstairs area for a music show and foodies. Everyone was super nice, our food was delicious and I’m really looking forward to going back again soon! We parked in the Hanover St lot and walked the short distance to the venue. I liked the elevated stage so you could see the talent from almost everywhere. We got the last two seats at the bar and were psyched to see there was a large viewing screen above the bar too, so yay. The sound was great! I give the Press Room two thumbs up! The hubby got the chili wings and I got and awesome beets salad with steak. So yummy! I loved how hey had a large ice water dispenser on the bar for people to stay hydrated. Next time we’ll get there earlier to, hopefully, sit by the stage. I forgot to take pics of our food! Sorry! The wings came in a sizzling cast iron skillet! The is place is winners!

Saw a super fun show at this little venue while visiting Portsmouth. Tickets were cheap, drinks were super reasonable, and the vibe was so chill. If you’re in Portsmouth, def stop here for a show. Small intimate venue that reminds me of Johnny Brenda’s in Philly.

We stopped in after dropping a child off at school and this burger was BANANAS! It was light and amazingly delicious.

They had a band upstairs on this Sunday night but we thought we’d eat in the downstairs area and enjoyed the old school hip hop music.
