Poughkeepsie Grind is such a neighborhood gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the smell of fresh pastries baked daily and truly excellent coffee that they roast themselves. Whether you’re ordering a simple cup of coffee, harney and sons tea (large selection!) or a specialty drink with their wide variety of syrups, the quality really shines — having a skilled barista makes all the difference. Beyond coffee, they also offer a lovely selection of gelato and an impressively large savory menu. The chicken and waffles are a favorite, but there are also egg sandwiches, BLTs, tenders, wraps, and plenty of customizable options, including vegetarian choices, and gluten-free bread is usually available. Whether you’re settling in to enjoy the sweetly decorated, inviting space or grabbing something on your way to the train, the location is perfect ♥️

First time going to this place. I ordered a ham egg and cheese salt and pepper. They charged me over 8$. There was no cheese on the sandwich and just a couple of pieces of diced ham. I was thinking about trying their other food but after this I’ll never step foot in there again. Pass by this place

We had waffles with fruit. The fruit was great. The waffles were dry and lacking of flavor. The service was good. The place is very small. The pictures are deceiving. The pictures gave the illusion of a bigger space. The pricing was reasonable. I would not go back. Location, we live too far and do not frequent the area. This is a great place for locals, but definitely not impressed enough overall to come back even of we were in the area.

I came into this place on my way out of Poughkeepsie and oh boy did this town save the best for last! This shop is worth all the hype and more. Cute coffee shop with a full kitchen that makes amazing food!!! The owner is so nice, she has everything thought of: condiments, free water, napkins, salt, pepper, todo! It’s amazing to me how a place this small can get those things right while we have these larger establishments with all of the money in the world who get it so wrong. Amazing amazing job here.
We had the coffee, breakfast sandwich, and a bagel.

The Italians are moving back to Poughkeepsie! Lina, and her family, took over the Poughkeepsie grind on Main Street, one block from the train station, around two years ago. She is the sweetest and makes one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had. I just found out last week, It’s because she roast her own beans on site! Absolutely fabulous

I got a take out order to try a couple of items. The iced mocha was great, no complaints, very well done. The egg sandwich was ok. The eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly but the hard roll was just that, hard and stale. It ruined the sandwich if I am honest. I guess I was mistaken to think that I should try some pastries here. I got an almond danish and a pistachio muffin. They were on par with what I would get from a gas station. I am thinking that their specialty is waffles and big plate items. Unfortunately, I didn’t try anything like that. I suppose I would try it again by going and sitting down to try some waffles but I won’t be in a rush to do so.

Early to the train station, I was lucky enough to be directed to The Poughkeepsie Grind and Cafe when I asked a kind taxi driver where to get a cup of coffee. Not only was the coffee fresh and hot, but the egg sandwich (of which I am a connoisseur) was the best I have ever had– a soft bun, a generous portion of buttery, scrambled egg, and just enough mayonnaise to give it a litte flair. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was welcoming and warm. I was a happy commuter that morning!

Excellent breakfast, coffee, and customer service!
Came in over the summer and forgot to leave them some love. I ordered a chicken wrap with a hash brown and potato chips and an iced Chai latte. A bit too much time has passed for me to flesh out the details but I remember chatting with the staff behind the counter for awhile and they made me feel like an old regular. That hash brown was sooooo good, so perfectly crispy on the outside and warm and soft inside. Nice portions at an affordable price.

It’s an Italian couple that own Poughkeepsie grind. It’s the most charming thing in a four block radius. She remembers my order and make suggestions for me and my wife. The wife takes the orders and makes the lattes, and the husband cooks. I’ll talk to you and tell you stories about Italy. It’s good food and very good service.
