The service was excellent and everyone was attentive. Food was also excellent (the sauces are sooo good)! The only reason why I gave 5 stars was because I realized when I came home to make a review that I don’t believe we got our full order. I ordered the All for One, which per the menu should have included 2 half chickens and 3 wings (which I assumed would be 3 of each flavor), but we received 2 legs/thighs with 2 wings of each flavor. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the sides were also fantastic. We got the mayo corn and rice and enjoyed adding the garlic sauce to them!
We will definitely be back!
To begin with, I love how they’ve clearly put effort into the ambience and interiors-it’s cute! ✨
And of course, the food is a no-brainer —healthy and scrumptious as always. This location even exceeded my expectations with their incredible service.
I will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommend!
It has never happened with me in the past that I’ve paid 40$ for 2 people in a non-fancy(no table service) restaurant and then go to a fast food restaurant because we were not full. Its diabolical to charge 19$ for a 4 inch Sandwich with 2 grilled tenderloins + a small portion of fries and have the audacity to charge additional 75 cents for a half filled cup of ranch. And I had to order and pay for everything on a kiosk, even when I asked for some Ranch in the middle of the meal, I had to go to the kiosk and order there.
Now coming back to the Taste, it was just average, chicken leg&thigh was not very flavorful while the rice was on the chewier side and the salad didn’t come with any dressing.
Now comes the comparison part with the OGs Nando’s Peri Peri. The Price at Nandos in DC which is a stone’s throw away from the White House is 30% cheaper than this restaurant in Carriage place while the taste and portion size is nowhere close.
PS: I love Nando’s and my review may look like I am biased, but the point is if you have similar menu as a global restaurant chain, comparison is natural and sometimes beneficial if you serve better food than them. The whole reason for this critical review is not to discourage the people from trying this place, it’s rather an eye opener for the restaurant which I would love to succeed and continue serving Columbus.
The kind of ambience that announces “we care” without pretense. Staff move with the calm efficiency of people who’ve practiced hospitality until it feels effortless; plates arrive hot, portions generous, and the space hums with excited chatter rather than chaos.
Now to the heart of the matter — the chicken. If you think you know peri-peri, think again. Each piece is flame-kissed and basted so that a single bite releases a small, ecstatic fanfare of juices and spice. The meat is astonishingly tender and impossibly juicy — not the dry, über-marinated showpiece you sometimes get, but a perfectly balanced experience where smoke, tang, and heat play equal parts. This is comfort and thrill on one fork; it’s the kind of chicken you close your eyes for and remember later.
juicy, well-seasoned, and reminiscent of the best peri-peri class.
Flavor-wise the menu reads like a tour through Afro-Mediterranean heat: rice bowls built to cradle the chicken, wings that command attention, and sides (cassava fries, anyone?) that deserve billing as co-stars. The sauces are honest — layered with citrus and smoke, and they take the chicken from merely excellent to memorably sublime.
As a testimonial from someone who’s waited and watched this brand grow — this was worth the wait. It’s rare that a restaurant matches hype with heart: every bite here felt like intentional craft, not a formula. Whether you’re a peri-peri pilgrim or a curious first-timer, bring patience for the lines and appetite for honest flavor. Columbus, you finally have a place that makes chicken feel like an event. 10/10.
Hands down, this is the best grilled chicken in Columbus. The flavor is absolutely incredible — perfectly marinated, juicy on the inside, and grilled to perfection with that smoky char that makes every bite unforgettable. The peri peri sauces are bold, flavorful, and customizable to your heat preference, whether you like it mild or extra spicy.
The sides are just as delicious, and everything tastes fresh and made to order. On top of that, the staff is friendly, welcoming, and provides excellent service every time.
If you’re searching for Columbus’ best grilled chicken, The Port of Peri Peri is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Despite the delay, the overall experience was great, and I would definitely come back again!
