Reviews
The café is small and very quaint, with plenty of plants both inside and outside that create a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere. The staff was polite, attentive, and made us feel right at home.
As for the food — excellent. We ordered the specials, “Back to the Gym” and the “Pantheon” (I may be spelling that wrong), and both were delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
They also offer outdoor seating, which is a great option when the weather cooperates.
Overall, we loved this place and will definitely be back very soon.
The menu is exceptional, with every item made using high-quality ingredients. Not only is the food flavorful, but it is also among the healthiest brunch options available in the area, making it well worth the price. There is a clear level of care and intention behind each dish, which truly sets this café apart from others.
One standout feature for me personally is the coffee. This is the only place in Aiken where I can enjoy coffee without it upsetting my stomach, which speaks to both the quality and preparation. The attention to detail extends beyond the food and beverages and into the overall experience.
It is worth noting that guests arriving after 1:30 p.m. are kindly asked to place their orders to go, as the café closes at 2:00 p.m. This is completely understandable, especially from the perspective of someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, and does not detract from the experience.
Polo Grounds Café has become a trusted and regular brunch destination for my family and the only place I choose for coffee. It is a standout establishment with exceptional food, quality ingredients, and an atmosphere that keeps us coming back.
The weather was perfect for a friend and I to enjoy brunch at the rustic wooden table on, what my friend termed, as the “whimsical” side patio. We could only imagine what these “Grounds” must look like in the evening with the solar lighting all aglow.
While the “something for everyone” broad, appetizing menu makes for a difficult choice,
I finally settled on an Iced Chai, Yum!, and what was listed on the menu as “The French Kiss”.
A blissful blend of sweet and salty expertly achieved with a combination of warm prosciutto and bourbon maple syrup topped with a rich cream sauce and plump, fresh blackberries over three generous slices of buttery grilled French Toast. Delightful!
Just like the Grounds and the service we received!
You will want to return!
The crepes and French toast (only offered on the weekend) are absolutely divine. Hearty, rich, and packed with flavor, these aren’t your average light brunch options—they’re satisfyingly indulgent in the best possible way. The French toast in particular is thick-cut and perfectly golden, with just the right balance of crisp edges and soft, custardy middle. Topped with fresh berries and syrup, it’s a treat that feels like a warm hug on a plate. The crepes are equally impressive—delicate and tender, yet stuffed full of sweet or savory goodness, depending on your mood. My favorite is the El Presidente!
They also offer a full range of specialty coffee drinks that go way beyond your standard cup of joe. Whether you prefer a classic latte, a frothy cappuccino, or something more creative with flavored syrups and seasonal ingredients, the baristas here know what they’re doing.
The atmosphere is also worth mentioning. Inside, it’s warm and welcoming, with a laid-back vibe that makes you want to linger. Outside, the café really shines—there’s something so peaceful about sipping a coffee surrounded by the gentle buzz of conversation, a breeze in the air, and a stunning array of gorgeous plants. The greenery adds such a refreshing and calming touch to the space, making it feel more like a garden oasis than a typical café patio.
In short, Polo Grounds Café is a beautiful blend of comforting food, delicious drinks, and serene ambiance. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Aiken, this café is well worth the stop. Come hungry, leave happy—and maybe a little full. Highly recommend!
I work from home so finding somewhere I can go and also enjoy lunch (I’m a vegetarian and they have great options) is a fun way to get out of the house. They have lots of seating both indoor and out and the music they play is pleasant.
If you’re looking for a good coffee and/or breakfast/lunch, I would suggest trying this spot first.
