As soon as you walk in you are greeted by friendly staff. The restaurant was very clean and the food was delicious. Christian, family music was being played. The food came out very quickly. There are multiple different BBQ sauces to try. No complaints, this is the best BBQ in leland.

I loveee doing reviews especially when service and food is out of this world !!! I’ll upload a picture of what my family got combined kids for chicken tenders mac hush puppies and fries THE HUSHPUPPIES ARE MOUTH WATERING !! Coleslaw immaculate!! And the meat JUICY, TENDER AND FALLING OFF THE BONE my husband had the brisket sandwich and he said it was out of this world !! He was stuffed !! Keep in mind this is our first time eating here everything was superb ! Service was lovely consistent checking on us asking if we needed anything. It’s the little things that matter and I loved the entire experience!! You all rock !!

Where should I start. When we walk into the front part of the restaurant it was very clean and the waitress introduction was great. But the food was terrible. My wife and I only order the side dishes such as the mac and cheese, green beans, sweet potato fries. I ordered fried okra, sausage link mac and cheese and hush puppies. My wife love the green beans and sweet potato fries. So when the food came there sweet potato fries was cooked so hard that she almost boke a tooth. The green beans had a pickle and oily taste to it. My okra was also oily. The mac and cheese was cold and stuck in the bowl like was left out for a while. And the hush puppies had corn inside them. I do know how to cook hush puppies and it’s with out corn. Then 20 minutes later a waiter come by and ask how is everything? We ask dose the sweet potato fries supposed to cook this hard. His reply was we are still try to figure out how to cooked them. To me that is disappointed to know that a local restaurant that is owned by a veteran can’t have the kitchen cook food right. For $43.67 included tip. We could have went across the street to get Cook Out for hush puppies but we didn’t. We like to support the local people but not for the price we paid.

Stopped in with my wife fir a Friday evening dinner. When I go out for BBQ, I generally head to Charelston or Ayden, but I just wanted a quick bite so I stopped in Leland. I entered throb the front door and headed to the right to place my order. The short line moved quickly and we were given a table sign the read “Fort Hood.” (That was the first red flag.) We took our sign, grabbed our drinks, and headed into the dining area to wait for our food. I noticed my eyes were starting to sting and my sinuses start to close up. I looked up and saw a filthy ceiling (red flag number two). We moved. We settled in at another table and waited. The music on the dining room was gospel music (red flag number three). This makes me ask myself, “What is the business model? Are they selling the quality of their food, or trying to use something else to push food to certain demographics? The food was delivered quickly and the hush puppies and collard greens were delicious, but my chicken was cold and dry with good spices but absolutely no smoke. I wasn’t impressed. I tried my wife’s pork burnt ends, these too were off. They were tough and dry but the seasoning was spot on.
I’ll give them another chance in a month or two, hopefully they will clean the ceiling and they will be able to make the food their primary business and stop trying to use a crutch.

SO good. We loved it. I liked that they had a “sides” plate for kids because my son can’t eat meat and got to pick two of the sides. Loved the atmosphere.

We did a family meal for 4-5 which fed us all with some leftovers. The pulled pork was delicious and the dry brisket was moist and tender. Better brisket than most I’ve had. Sides of slaw and mac and cheese were plentiful and better than I expected. It was busy for carry out which is great. The building looks like it was another restaurant before this one so it needs a little freshening. Staff was attentive. Good value. Would go back.

I’m very happy that brisket burnt ends are on the menu. They were very tender and seasoned just right. I didn’t need to add any other sauces or seasonings because they were that good! I tried one of the wings (buffalo sauce) from one of the others in my group and that was very good too. Their wings are truly smoked and you can definitely taste that smoke flavor. This is another great barbeque option for this area.

An up and coming veteran owned and operated business that is really good. They have pork, beef, and chicken that is cooked to perfection. A very good place to eat that will make you want to come back for more!

The Pit is the best of the BEST! Especially if you have gluten free issues. They have a dedicated gf fryer and go the extra mile to take care of you.
Family oriented, excellent food, great prices, locally owned. Can’t get better than this❤️
