I rarely write reviews, but this experience warrants one. My family and I dined here on Christmas Eve, and it was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, especially for a holiday as meaningful as Christmas.

There were 17 of us, which was not unusual given that much of the restaurant was serving large parties. For important context: our family has been coming here every Christmas Eve for 25 years. We have been loyal customers for decades, which makes this especially difficult to write. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning.

To be clear, the wait staff and bartender were excellent. The evening started well with drinks arriving promptly and they very good. Unfortunately, once the food came out, everything went downhill in a way none of us could ever be prepared for.

One family member’s meal arrived well after everyone else’s – roughly 15- 20 min later. They also brought all the kids food out last which is wild because they only had one option for kids – chicken fingers and fries.

When my mother’s lamb came out it was completely burnt. When the owner came to the table, he told us he would eat it himself and said that’s just how they make it.

I ordered the filet mignon and it was completely unseasoned, the blandest steak I’ve ever had. I took two bites and couldn’t eat it. My partner ordered the chicken piccata, which was equally inedible. Neither of us ate our meals.

We then waited over 30 minutes for our check because the owner initially refused to comp the food. When the check finally came, we asked to speak with him because the situation was unacceptable.

When the owner approached, he was immediately rude and argumentative. He got directly in my face, posturing in a threatening manner as if he were going to hit me. This happened in the middle of the restaurant, in full view of other patrons. He told us he would never open on Christmas Eve again so he wouldn’t have to deal with “people like us”—a family that has been dining there every Christmas Eve for 25 years.

After essentially yelling at us, he finally comped the meals. The staff were wonderful throughout and they were visibly upset and even crying. We made sure to tip them generously, as none of this was their fault.

The owner also made our young children at the table start crying and it was a scary experience for them.

On top of all that, the owner tried to recuperate the losses from the food by over charging us for drinks. As you’ll see on the receipt, my daughter had 2 strawberry lemonades but was charged for three and my son had 2 lemonades but was charged for 4. Even more ridiculous is they don’t do free refills for kids drinks – imagine paying nearly $30 for your two kids drinks…insane. We also were charged for an extra martini as my partner and only had 2 each but as you’ll see they charged us for 5. I was done arguing with the owner so I didn’t fight it and I wish I took a picture of the first receipt we had because those extra charges were not on it. He added to overcharge since he “comped” our meal. Shady shady business.

What makes this especially sad is that the owner’s father built a respected business and took pride in caring for customers. Watching his son disgrace that legacy was deeply disappointing.

If an owner treats customers with this level of hostility and disrespect, they do not deserve anyone’s business.

This was a horrible Christmas Eve experience. No family should be treated this way on a holiday. We fully understand how demanding Christmas Eve service can be—but difficulty does not excuse poor quality or abusive behavior. Had the owner handled this situation with even basic professionalism, the entire experience could have been salvaged.

We went on Valentine’s night before the comedy show! All and all it was a very nice experience! We had a 7 pm reservation for dinner, the show started at 8:30.
Julissa A., was our waitress and she did a fabulous job, kept apologizing for the wait, which wasn’t bad considering it was Valentine’s and busy! Food was great and service even better! Comedy show was fun! It was a great night!

This restaurant has been in business for years. Large portions steaks, prime rib and lamb cops, is their specialty. Salad and fries are fresh and hot. Owner on duty most of the time. First come first served.

If I could give ZERO across the board I would! My husband thought it would be fun to attend this comedian family fued so we purchased tickets to that and beforehand we decided to make reservations to eat, WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE! we sat for 45 minutes waiting for our drinks, we got our appetizer before our drinks (and there were TWO bartenders working this night) first off, I have no idea what the “stuffing” is made of but I can tell you that it was HORRIBLE! We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and the stuffing was absolutely NASTY.. like paste.. you couldn’t swallow it and with no drink, it made it even worse! We decided to keep it simple and ordered an order of prime rib and an order of baked haddock, both came with two sides. The haddock had a NASTY orange substance on top that im assuming was the bread crumbs but tasted nothing like breadcrumbs and the fish was DRY. The sides, rice pelaf and a side salad, the rice, which was a small cup they brought out way after the fish and tasted like nothing and the salad with the “house dressing” was the worst dressing I have ever had in my entire life! The prime rib we ordered medium was a slab of complete fat sitting in a bowl of blood, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING with a tiny bowl of mashed potatoes and some French fries, both were just blah, nothing special at all about either if them. The presentation of the food was boring and the sides weren’t even on the plates with the meat. They were served to us in these tiny little bowls and came out AFTER the food finally came which was about an hour and a half after we arrived. And our next set of drinks took just as long to get as the first ones. The food was ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE! so we figured maybe the entertainment would be better right?! Well tell me why we even had to “pay” for tickets?! The show started right there in the same exact room we, and everyone else, was eating in..when we went to go find our seats that we “picked” online when we purchased the tickets, the area was so full that people were literally sitting on top of eachother and there wasn’t even anyone to go up tp to “check in” or have scan our tickets and there was a guy just hustling dragging dining tables over to the area to fit even more people on top of eachother so we just finished our drink and left. Our bill was $175.00 and thats not including what we spent on the “tickets” for the “show” that we could not attend due to the amount of people they STUFFED in the dining room that everyone else could see for free. You shoild be ASHAMED of yourselves for serving that disgusting food and for conning people into buying tickets for a show that is free for all to see anyways! As for the food, WOW… I have never had food so bad in my entire life and for $175!!!??
I probably should have read the most recent reviews first..
You all should be ashamed of yourself!!! HORRIBLE food and payed for entertainment that we didn’t watch because there was literally nowhere to sit!

Walked right in sat at the bar. The bar tender was a riot! She had us laughing and feeling good the whole time we were there. She’s really good at her job. The food was also quite the experience! I had the lamb chops, they were done to perfection. Their grape leaves are one ff the best I’ve had. I’m so happy I went here. Will definitely be going back. It was all worth it! Can’t believe this place has been here in Haverhill this whole time and I never knew. Can’t wait to go back soon!

Highly recommend using the Phoenician for catering desserts! I ordered baklava, date cookies and sesame cookies for my wedding and they were DELICIOUS! There was not one leftover and everyone loved them. I ordered through Micheline and the process was very smooth. The family is extremely kind and accommodating! 10/10!

This is what I can tell you My wife and I eat out maybe too much. That being said five star across the board. It’s not a fancy place it’s just a clean place and food beyond outstanding I had the lamb chop the char on them and the way they were cooked medium rare was phenomenal The flavor exceptional. My wife had the prime rib it was mammoth and beyond mouthwatering. I’m telling you if you haven’t been you need to go their french fries are beyond belief the appetizer we had with the walnut stuffing and clams was incredible and yes I could go on and on and on I’ll just say 5 across the board and if I could put 10 I put 10 across the board and we just got back from 4 days of traveling throughout and ate at many different restaurants that were a lot more at sometimes price wise. Treat yourself enjoy!

The Phoenician has delicious hummus and a great prime rib. The service is always very helpful but can be very slow at times. The fries have a good texture but are very oily and have a strange taste. I got the beef on a steak and they were over cooked so I would recommend ordering them not as cooked as you usually do. Also they were covered in char, so if you don’t like the char taste I wouldn’t recommend this dish. It’s a nice restaurant but I’m not rushing back.

Think one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant due to the owner. The unprofessionalism and cursing was the most craziest thing I’ve ever had to witness. Christmas Eve at restaurants understandably stressful, the waitresses were kind and did truly nothing wrong. We had multiple issues during the period of the night which mistakes happen but again, as an owner getting in a customers face about FOOD that wasn’t eaten and cursing was absolutely unnecessary and unacceptable. Truly don’t see this restaurant making it another year. They also used to have the BEST FRENCH FRIES EVER they were known for them…. It was so unseasoned, you couldn’t even eat them. Truly the Owner needs to find a new career!

Attended a very popular event today (that had over 5k people interested on Facebook). The facility owner or employee, a woman in her 50s with 80s style dark hair was YELLING at patrons and threatening towing to anyone parking in MOST of the parking lot (including handicapped), even though there were no directions, signs present, or any other directives besides the angry screaming.
I actually find it unacceptable that the event planner PAID to have an event there and the facility employees went out of their way to harass, threaten, and berate attendees when the owner/facility CLEARLY had lack of proper planning for such a large event. It was easy to see that this was going to draw a large crowd based on the Facebook event alone and they didn’t plan for it properly. I would never eat in this filthy foul mouthed establishment because of the harassment I endured simply looking for a place to park in total chaos.
Unprofessional conduct. Renters beware! The facility was unsupportive of the event and I imagine a wedding or other fair would be equally as disparaging.

The most concerning, however, was the ADA non-compliant-Not accessible for events. I had a handicapped placard but was not allowed to park at the designated spots for the event because I was going to the function hall and not the restaurant, which is against ADA but still was yelled at by the lady. She made me move twice, totally ignoring the fact that I had a visible placard
