Our kitchen works closely with local farmers and fishermen to source the best seasonal ingredients to create dynamic and bold flavors and made-from-scratch menus. We are committed to using only sustainably fished and farmed products and all of the seafood on our menu is wild caught, seasonal, and landed in local New England waters. Join us at the bar for creative cocktails served with hand cut crystal clear big ice cubes, a thoughtfully curated natural-leaning wine list, local craft beers and cider. One of our best dinners on the Cape! We are Californians and not used to massive MA plates of food so we were very content to share all of these nicely portioned smaller dishes. The rich potato millefeuille was delectable and was complimented by the vinegary bite of the watermelon gazpacho we also ordered. The seared mushrooms and giant beans were a hearty, beautifully seasoned intro to Fall that paired well with a French Pinot. The poussin was crisp and tasty. It did take over an hour and a half to get our dishes, which was a bit delayed compared to diners around us, so we ran out of steam for dessert but overall it was lovely.

This is honestly the best restaurant on Cape Cod. The food is locally sourced and expertly prepared, and I haven’t had a meal there that didn’t blow me away. The setup is charming and homey, with a nice mix of antiques and moderns touches. The owners are very present, but they have trained their staff beautifully, and it’s clear that everyone is invested in doing a great job. The cocktails are special and creative without doing too much, and again, the menu offerings are as delicious as it gets. I can’t say enough wonderful things about The Pheasant.

We had dinner at The Pheasant on a dark November Saturday, and I can’t imagine a better time to visit. It’s off-season on the Cape—no traffic, no crowds—but the restaurant was hopping. Every table was full, and I would never recommend showing up without a reservation.
The atmosphere was lovely: warm, softly lit (in the best way), with a faint scent of wood smoke that gave the whole space a cozy, autumnal feel. The clientele was mostly locals and weekenders—people in sweaters, relaxed but clearly here for good food and good wine. It reminded me more of a hidden gem in Boston or New York or Houston than a Cape Cod restaurant, in the best possible way.
Service was attentive throughout (with one mildly odd sommelier interaction that I am still trying to process but didn’t detract from the experience). The pacing was just right for a four-course structure, though we opted to share a second course and each have a third.
Now, the drinks. I cannot overstate how good the dirty martini was—made with The Botanist gin and their house-made pickle brine, garnished with a house-pickled cucumber slice. It was unforgettable, and I’ve been trying to recreate it since. Their wine service was also top-notch: even for wines by the glass, they bring the bottle to your table to pour. I had a Sangiovese that paired beautifully with my main course.
Speaking of which—the seared duck breast with a Cabernet pan sauce was exceptional: tender, flavorful, beautifully presented, accompanied by a silky purple sweet potato purée, tiny perfectly cooked turnips, and a bit of kale. Our shared roasted cauliflower with salsa verde was a standout—generous, perfectly cooked, and full of layered flavor.
We skipped dessert, but judging from the rest of the menu, I have no doubt it would have been excellent.
I have no idea what this place is like in the summer, but for a dark autumn night on the Cape, Pheasant felt absolutely perfect.

We were looking forward to our meal all week but it was a bit of a disappointment. The restaurant itself is beautiful and well decorated.

It took a really long time to get cocktails, just 2 for a table of 5. Once they arrived they were good. The food looked beautiful as you can see from the pictures, but in most cases was not seasoned well. We ordered four appetizers and five entrees.

All the food was ok, but nothing was a home run except the bass and clams my wife had. Pork chop and Cornish hen were underwhelming and the hen portions ridiculously small. My son asked if we could stop at the lazy dog for a chicken sandwich instead of having desert. My daughter also said she didn’t get enough food.

I don’t know how they can recommend sharing when portions are so small and prices so high. Between the portion sizes and the underwhelming food just can’t recommend the restaurant

A lot of people are saying this is the best restaurant on the Cape. I agree but I would take it a step further – it is one of the best restaurants anywhere, full stop. Better than most restaurants I’ve been to in Miami, NY, Boston, etc. The rotating menu every few weeks and their partnership with the best local vendors (CBI Farm, Ack Gioia, etc) makes for the freshest most delicious ingredients. Whatever form they are serving burrata in is a must have- earlier in the season it was peach burrata salad, now it is burrata with chimichurri. Amazing. The poussin is my favorite entree. I would recommend ordering several plates and sharing so you can try as much as possible. They also have a fabulous wine selection. Very cozy setting – love going in the off season as well. My favorite!

I recently had the pleasure of attending a friend’s wedding at The Pheasant in Dennis, and it truly is an incredible Cape Cod treasure. Set in a beautifully preserved farmhouse that is more than 200 years old, right along Route 6A, the restaurant feels both timeless and welcoming from the moment you arrive.

The food was remarkable. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, from the seared dayboat scallops with piccalilli to the braised short rib, all paired with an impressive and well curated wine selection. Each course added to the experience and made the evening feel special without ever feeling overdone.

What truly elevated the night was the hospitality. Renae, the manager, along with his entire team, was outstanding. Attentive, warm, and clearly passionate about what they do, they made sure everything ran seamlessly and that every guest felt genuinely cared for.

The setting itself is just as memorable as the meal. Wide wood floors, exposed beams, and the subtle, comforting scent of a wood burning stove create a warm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for a celebration or a quiet night out. We had such a great time, and it is easy to see why The Pheasant holds such a special place on the Cape.

The Pheasant is our favorite restaurant on the Cape, the menu changes seasonally and has never disappointed. The highlights of this meal were the Potato Millefeuille, the Cornish hen and The Scallops which were in a word perfect. Service and ambience were superior as always

amazing upscale – not fussy meal on the cape. all the ingredients were very fresh, they turned simple meats and veggies into gourmet experiences. I strongly recommend the short rib and the cabbage, but the menu is seasonal so I’m sure they’ll be new delicious things if you don’t see these on the menu. the service was kind and attentive, our waiter helped tailor our starters to compliment our entrees. the ambiance is a charming and quaint, it felt like you were in an old timey home, with an excellent chef. we’ll be returning next year when we’re back on the cape.

Another exceptional dining experience at The Pheasant! I brought my chef husband for his birthday and we had such a nice time (he’s hard to please!). The service was exceptional and the food was outstanding! It’s hard to be impressed in January on Cape Cod but this restaurant delivers year round, and is especially warm and cozy this time of year! We had a late reservation and were one of the last tables but the staff continued to make us feel welcomed and appreciated. We will be back!
