This was our first time at The Chimes in Covington. It was fantastic! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. She came back multiple times to check on us. Our glasses were always full. I had the Crab & Brie soup. Amazing! Rich, flavorful w/ good size pieces of crab meat. The Fried Catfish platter was delicious! Shrimp & Grits, also very good. Prices are reasonable. Great portions. We will definitely be back!

Always my favorite. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is lively, food is awesome. Have yet to have anything that’s not top notch. My go-to is the sauteed Crab claws, and fettuccine. My other half loves any of the Southern seafood dishes. And their pepper jelly vinaigrette for their salads is so good. Wish they had a location in Biloxi! (Wink, wink)

This is a wonderful restaurant with a fun and lively ambience. We had the choice for indoor or outdoor seating. We had a group of 7 and we were seated immediately – that was quite serendipitous. Everyone enjoyed their food and we all tried and loved the fried alligator bites and boudin balls. The restaurant was busy and yet service was quick, efficient and friendly. We also had several allergies in our group and all were handled perfectly. We can’t wait to return!

The Chimes is hands down one of the best spots in Louisiana for good food and good vibes. The place has that rustic, laid-back feel that makes you instantly comfortable, and it’s super family-friendly, which I love.
The food is amazing. The charbroiled oysters are a must have every time I visit. The gator is tender and so tasty. The catfish is always fresh and perfectly cooked, and the gumbo is rich and comforting, just like it should be. Don’t skip the boudin balls, and if crab fingers are in season, get them — you won’t regret it.
What makes The Chimes really special is the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you can bring your kids, meet up with friends, or just relax and enjoy a meal that feels like home. Big portions, friendly staff, and food that keeps you coming back — it’s a true gem in the South.

I acknowledge my group were not the nicest folks to handle if you’re a restaurant worker. But that’s mostly just because they were growing impatient waiting to be sat. We had made a reservation for 4:00 p.m. and it took a long time to get sat, maybe like 45 minutes or so. I think around 4:40 p.m. they offered us a table but I made the decision to wait 10 to 15 minutes longer for the nicer table, that’s on me. But still, I think there should have been some kind of way for the restaurant to be more prepared because we had a reservation already. I’ve worked in restaurants before and so I get it that it’s sort of hard to coordinate telling a table that they need to get up or something but there needs to be some kind of way to do that because it’s not really fair to the people who made a reservation. If it’s simply a matter of booking 2 different people at a bad time in relation to each other then maybe that’s something that the team at the chimes can think about. Anyway the food’s not bad, our server Josh was really great and patient and nice. And it’s a really nice atmosphere, really nice restaurant, really cute/cool concept too with the boardwalk in the back and the goats and kayaking. Nice, quality place to go for dinner.

I really love this restaurant! I went there for Valentine’s Day with my mom and husband. While we were given an hour to wait, it went by really fast. They use a text messaging system to let you know when your table is ready. You can refresh it for accurate info.
The atmosphere is great! The lighting is perfect for conversation. The inside is lovely but the outside is absolutely gorgeous at night!!
The food is amazing as well! There are a lot of seafood options, some non seafood, and maybe three vegetarian options. However, whatever you decide will be flavorful! It’s a great taste of Louisiana foods.

I thought I had better photos and videos, but trust me; the experience was worth it! One plate was big enough to feed two people. We had appetizers, main courses, and everything was absolutely delicious. The portions were huge! We celebrated a birthday here, and for 4 adults and 1 child, the total came to about $200; well worth it. We sat outside, and the atmosphere made it even better. Highly recommend! Our waitress was outstanding

Very crowded place for sure, good southern hospitality staff/service. Good appetite selection but don’t over do it if you are ordering a boatload plate. Kinda on the loud side but the table are space out enough to accommodate hearing at your table. Recommend PoBoy’s sandwiches if you want lighter meal.
