It’s been quite a while since I have been into the Peppery; there were previous service issues which caused us to decide to stop choosing this restaurant. Last night my bestfriend & I decided to meet up at the Peppery for dinner. I arrived first and went in to get a table for the two of us. I was waiting in the entry area behind the “Please Wait to be Seated” sign. As I waited another party arrived and was waiting beside me. One of the servers came over walked past me and asked them for how many and took them to be seated. Interesting for me seeing as I had been standing there for a few minutes before they entered the restaurant, while servers walked passed me & those near the bar area made eye contact and went back to their duties. Another couple then came into the restaurant and were waiting beside me to be seated, a different server emerged and started walking towards us, she then asked if I had already been helped and got me seated at a table and got menus & drinks while I waited for my friend to arrive.
Once she arrived our server got her drink order and checked to see if we need anything while we look over the menu. We noticed they have an updated menu with all the same favorites.
My friend ordered the Angel Hair Pasta w/ Italian Sausage with a cup of soup to start, and I ordered the Garlic Roasted Ribeye with Jalapeno Cheddar Mashed Potatoes & Seasonal Veggies with a house salad to start. The food was good not quite as good as I had anticipated. My friends pasta was over sauced, too much sauce for the amount of pasta. My steak had too much demi glaze on it; I did wipe most of it off and I will order it on the side next time. My steak was cooked slightly under what I requested but still good. We were so stuffed that we did not even want to look at the dessert menu.
I probably will go back, but I will wait a bit before we return.

They have the best clam chowder! I’ve tried clam/seafood chowders all up and down the California coast, and they don’t even compare to the chowder here. We also ordered the salmon dinner and chicken dinner and everything was great. If you like spicy foods they have many dishes with some kick, but there are dishes without spice for folks like me who can’t handle the heat. A variety of options for meals and a lot of creative combinations I’d never have thought to try. The employees are super nice and attentive.

Haven’t been to the Peppery in a long time (a couple years) cause in the past we would order a big salad and they wouldn’t cut up the lettuce and it would drive us nuts. So we went a couple weeks ago, I ordered pasta and my husband ordered jambalaya. Waitress and staff are friendly, get our drinks and check on us for refills. Waited about 30 minutes for the food and when it came out, both our dishes were warm. Not hot. Obviously had been sitting awhile before it was brought to our table. We went ahead and ate it, didn’t complain, but was disappointed. Tonight, we go back, I ordered pasta again and my husband decided to order tacos and upgraded the fries to garlic fries. Our food came out and mine was definitely hotter this time, I was happy, but his was barely warm. We try to flag our waitress and she is avoiding our table, when she finally comes around to refill our drinks, we tell her the fries and tacos were barely warm, and mind you we had to wait 40 minutes this time for the food. She offers to bring hot fries but my husband said no, cause he went ahead and munched on them while we were trying to get her attention. His tacos were also really bland and so once again, just disappointed. Probably not going back.

The food there was amazing. The service great and very nice. It is out of the main Sonora crowd so when we got there in the late morning there weren’t many people (however by the time we left it was picking up). The portions were great! And the dessert – donuts with ice cream and caramel – just mouth watering! Definitely worth stopping by!

Went with a friend this week, haven’t been in a while. I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad. The chicken was dried out jerky, no dressing, not good. The fried asperagus was good though and filled me up. When I got there I told the watress I was going to place a to go order for 2 babyback rib meals. They don’t have ribs anymore, but it’s still on their outdated website. The server was adequate, friendly disposition, but didn’t care about website, didn’t check on us. Had to get dressing from a different server. I wouldn’t chose this place again!

Roasted garlic steak was by far the best ive had in a long time. The pepper jack poppers were amazing. Everything. The whole meal! Service was absolutely great and it was a super busy night after the xmas parade! Definitely recommend

Both food and service were fantastic. I highly recommend the California Burger, the Pepper Dip, and the BBQ tri-tip sandwich. The onion straws are also on point, oh and the clam chowder is proper. Basically, you’re not going to go wrong with anything off the menu. 20 years ago, I used to eat here at least once a month when I would work in th Sonora area. I’m so glad it has hardly changed. Two big thumbs up.

I got a savage Pastrami Pretzel Burger and it was amazing. The fries were cooked well, the tri tip was tender (though the bbq sauce was too sweet for my tastes). The Jalapeno poppers were fun, super crispy with nice spice. Would definitely go back. Special shout out to our server Delanie, she was awesome.

We don’t eat out often because we can cook food at our house that tastes better and saves money, but this place is one of the few exceptions in Oakdale, we love their food, good flavors and amazing dishes, you are missing out if you haven’t tried them. Local owned business so you are supporting families in the community, highly recommended, breakfast is really good.
