I really enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere. The menu has a variety of cuisines that are unique to the Penrose. The best part of the meal would have to be the Sushi for me. Didn’t really care for the Halibut or the Caesar salad. The oil was great and the way he prepared the salad in front of you was entertaining. The staff is very attentive and served with pleasure. Overall I was not impressed with the food but to each its own. Love it or hate it and for me it wasn’t worth the price.

Upon exiting the elevator, I got to see the smiling faces of the hosts, so eager and excited to see us. Paula was absolutely amazing, and the smiles were a breath of fresh air after a long drive.
Rachel was our server and her joy brought an amazing atmosphere to our table that lingered through the meal. She helped me pick an amazing choice of Thai Cod out on their menu. She brought our drinks out quickly and efficiently.
Dacota was amazing as well, always quick to refill our waters and was so happy to help us bag our meals at the end.
Clair was also amazing, wowing us as she made our Caesar salad at our very table, indulging in small talk as to not make the silence awkward.
The head chef was a master of their art and every bite was a masterpiece.
All in all, I would recommend the Penrose room, not just for the food, but for the atmosphere where I felt like a VIP even though I was not an overnight guest.

It took 5 years but the results show it was worth it. This closed down in 2020 and never reopened post pandemic. We’ve been to the Broadmoor many years and enjoyed The Penrose Room before with its views of the sunsetting behind the mountains. It was the old country club look and feel with a dance floor where Lawrence Well and his band with a bubble machine would not have been out of place.
NOT anymore! The redesign is beautiful. Just perfect. Brought up to date for current styles, a great lounge to have drinks and appetizers and take in the view from corner windows. The bar is inviting to sit at with a friend and see the mountains through the bottles on glass shelves. Or sit at one of the coffee table style seating in front of the fire place. It’s cozy, hip, and yet has spacious areas.
The menu – commendations to the executive chef. Very tasty selection of appetizers along with sushi. Our Penrose sushi roll was one of the most flavorful I have ever had. (And we eat sushi every week).
We didn’t have any entrees but it looked really good from beef Wellington for two to Colorado lamb or seafood. Caesar salad is made table side. Again, the best tasting I have every and.
Finally, don’t miss the cart martini or old
Fashioned. Ot only a fun presentation but the bartender will offer choices of every ingredient and explain the differences.
Dinner jackets are required for men (I personally like this touch) it don’t pass on going – they have jackets of all sizes to loan you.
If you aren’t sure about dinner jackets- you gotta go for at least a drink and the view at sunset.
This is THE best place to dine or sip a drink at the Broadmoor now. Hands down.

Lovely staff to make reservations and lovely staff to greet us. Downhill from there. Very limited wine menu. Food felt like dishes on a wedding menu. Waitstaff was not warm. Very transactional and certainly not a transaction we’d have again. $400 for an underwhelming meal and two cocktails for two is unreasonable for what was delivered. Plenty of new places downtown and even the Chamonix in Teller to enjoy. Broadmoor is phasing out. We’ll go to Summit again, but definitely not Penrose Room.

Experienced dining on 2/13/26 – Mateo was our server. While the salad and Penrose roll were exceptional the halibut was very dry. Service was good but it took a long time for us to get our main dish. I think the required gratuity did not give us a fair opportunity to financially rate the overall experience. I would give a 3.5 out 5 stars for this experience. We were already full by the time the main dish arrived. Mateo said a manager would come by to see us but that never happened. We may or may not return again.

Service is very good, very attentive and friendly. Tablesside ceaser salad was delicious. Dressing made to perfection. I had the veal; it was well cooked not over done with great flavor. Wine list is extensive. We found a beautiful bottle of charisma that was wonderful.

The food was good, but unfortunately the service significantly detracted from our experience. Our server, Ryan, came across as dismissive and judgmental, and we did not feel well cared for during our meal.
Our table was extremely wobbly — something we wouldn’t expect at a four-star restaurant — and when we brought it to his attention, no action was taken. It wasn’t until the table next to us complained that other servers stepped in to resolve the issue.
We were genuinely excited to dine at the Broadmoor’s premier restaurant, especially after its recent renovation and reopening, so this was a disappointment. Given the price point and reputation, we expected a higher level of attentiveness and professionalism.

We had a reservation for my birthday dinner on 1/2/26. We had to wait almost an hour for our table despite having a reservation, which was not ideal, but wouldn’t have been a big deal on its own. Overall, the food and service felt average. I would not describe the experience as “fine dining.” Our water glasses were often empty, and another guest at our table was served her soup without a spoon. It took about 10 minutes before I flagged a staff member down to provide her a spoon. The sushi and drinks were highlights; the entrees were lackluster and pricy. Although we were asked to note any special occasion in our reservation, and we noted my birthday, no mention was made of it. Why ask if not to make the guest feel special? For a meal that cost hundreds, we felt disappointed.
