We wanted to try it out after reading a positive article about this new place in a local magazine.
One issue for us was that the Sunday menu included no vegetarian choice for the main course, even though I requested vegetarian choices for my wife with my reservation. Nobody contacted me from the restaurant prior to us arriving to tell us about the menu. I could not preview the Sunday menu online, either, because it changes weekly.
I guess that I would rate the Sunday menu a good value, though. It was 3 courses for only $50.
The service was good, friendly, and attentive.
Our food was well prepared, well presented, and fairly good, but not the best that we have had compared to other restaurants close by.
The ambiance was good, but I believe that it could be better if this restaurant was not part of a golf club. Views of the golf course and the mountains from the seating areas (inside or outside) are really great.
We did love the bar in the restaurant! It was really beautifully done and they had tons of choices for liquor and drinks.
The Parlour Bar was fairly good. We had a drink there prior to dinner, but again it was not quite as expected in terms of the ambiance. We should probably return to the restaurant sometime when we can order from the regular menu (not the limited Sunday menu) and also return to the lounge when they have live music.
Overall, I would again give it a high rating but not 5 stars.
The service was excellent as well as the food. The bar is amazing and I had two Old Fashioneds. The Penny Salad was a good choice with the burger. My friend had the Salmon special and said it was perfect! As far as price, it is moderate for the Desert. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion for a unique dining experience in a unique location with nice views of Desert Island and the mountains!
We were first told we couldn’t sit in the restaurant because we didn’t have a reservation (it was empty at 5:00 p.m.) but we made reservations and went to the restaurant about 5:30 p.m. (still empty). Finished our meal about 7:30 p.m. (place still mostly empty).
Food is fine but boy is it expensive! Especially for what you get. My truffle risotto with asparagus (about 2 pieces) was $28. And that’s all you get. If you want a salad (and they only have 2) they are expensive (and separate because nothing came with risotto) and the dressing was extremely salty to the point of being almost inedible. Rolls are separate, everything is separate, except – you can get a burger with fries for $26+. Go figure.
Service was excellent. The place seems a little run down and maybe not fully put together? Don’t know……just some odd things there.
We’ll try it again but it’ll be a while because we’ve got to save money to go there.
The real problem here was service inconsistency. Three times servers came to our table and dried to deliver food and or drinks that weren’t ours. I asked one server for ketchup for my fries (served with a wonderful steak) but after several requests, he simply disappeared. When our regular server finally delivered the ketchup, she made it sound like she was doing us a huge favor, that She Herself was bringing it. No apology for the other fellow going M.I.A. Basically a nice restaurant but for the price I expected more. And left there thinking that I have no reason to go back. Sadly.
However.. there was a very strong smell of fishy seafood. I opted for the chicken (which I never do…) my friend initially wanted oysters but upon the smell, opted for the short rib pasta. We were so disappointed when the dishes came out. The chicken was so dry and salty that I took a few bites and couldn’t finish it. Her pasta was flavorless as well.
The server was so sweet and very professional.
We hope the restaurant get it together so we can come and recommend / visit again.
We stopped in tonight (Saturday, 1/06) and ate in the lounge (just outside the dining room). Rick Ross was singing and playing (piano, sax) his heart out. Only the few of us near the piano got to enjoy his music. They should put the piano in the MIDDLE of the dining room!
Until they do, treat yourself to dinner (black cod & service both excellent! ) and be sure to request a table in the lounge.
