A British take on the classic New York Steakhouse. Housed in an old bank vault with atmospheric lighting, great music and attentive but relaxed service. Dry aged steaks supplied by local butcher Nigel Buxton, the best in Bristol! Menu contains more than just steak, with fantastic small plates, British charcuterie, fish & creative vegetarian & vegan dishes.
Stylish steak restaurant and cocktail bar in a basement bank vault with Pre-Raphaelite murals.

Hands down, the best steak I’ve had so far! It is rare to find a place that truly masters a medium-rare steak (we chose ribeye), but they got the cook spot on. The accompanying sauces and fries were fantastic, and the red wine they recommended paired beautifully with the meal.
If you are visiting Bristol, you definitely need to try this place at least once. It’s a wonderful choice for a date night, but also a very solid alternative for business dinners. Highly recommended!

Lovely restaurant. Price probably a little on the high side. We went for the sharing rib eye. Starter platter was excellent. Bone in rib eye was a little less done when we’d like – the medium rare was practically blue in places, hate to think what rare is! Lovely seasoning and sear, just should have gone medium at least (and we like our steak pink).
Sides are very basic for the price.
Desserts were fine though the mousse was basically ganache. Lovely but very heavy.
Barbera red wine was fine but at the price charged, a few degrees lower than room temperature would have been nice.

It’s a special place where you can experiment to be going back many years ago.
Like the tunnel of time to the 50’s
It took us a while to find it as we didn’t realised that it’s located downstairs. The waitresses are well trained and pleasant.
The food wonderful, excellent quality The meat is very tasty and cooked to perfection.
Great variety of drinks to match the meals and deserts.
A bit noisy and dark, part of the atmosphere.
There is at least one private room for some private dinning with a group.
If you love meat it’s a place to go

Wonderful food but average service. When we arrived we were seated promptly but were not asked if we wanted coats put in the cloakroom (we didnt know there was one until we saw others asked). Initial orders taken and food arrived quickly. Very tasty and plentiful sharing roast accompanied by a quality bottle of Bordeaux. Perhaps it was because we were at the end of the restaurant but we then seemed forgotten. Table next to us were getting lots of attention (knew the servers) but took a good amount of time before plates cleared. We were then provided with desert menus and again forgotten about. We would have both had desserts but after waiting and trying to get someone’s attention for 20 mins we gave up. Even when we asked for the bill it seemed an inconvenience! We paid the service change but this was only because the original server had been great. I’ll add that the restaurant wasn’t overly busy and staff were chatting by the bar. For what was a celebration meal we were left non-plussed.

One of the best peppercorn sauce I have ever had in Bristol. Amazing salad selections, which for someone who has to have a veggie plate per meal, it is much appreciated. The staff was amazing, went above and beyond. The steak was obviously amazing and all the other reviews have covered it extensively, so I will talk about the side dishes. The scallops were a star for sure, must have. The chips were cooked to perfection, and the house Ceasar was not at all too creamy, but just right.

Went with a group of 16 of us for my brother stags do. The restaurant was so inviting and the staff were very accommodating as well!
The food was an absolute slay that is modern slang for delicious (for those unaware of modern citations). The steaks were all cooked to perfection, this is no simple wordplay, the steaks really were cooked to perfection.
We ordered many drinks, including wines and champagne. These were of a high calibre, very well paired with such delicious meats.
The table we had booked was semi-private and adorned with lovely murals and dimly lit to set the mood. All in all it was a lovely atmosphere created by the decorations and the feng shui was very auspicious.
To conclude, everyone praised the dinner we had immensely on this trip. 10/10, will be booking here again one day!

From the moment we stepped in we had a lovely welcome from the staff. Service was very quick and the food was brilliant. Particular shout out to the sprouts – they were unreal! There was a great selection of wines available too. The decor was lovely and matched the general atmosphere.

Excellent sharing meat platter, beautifully done steak, good portions for the side dishes, tasty bone marrow steak tartare, good size roast. I think the only thing we wouldn’t get again was the sobrasada croquettes, which were fine but not to our taste. Great friendly service. As others have said a bit dark but we acclimatised and it was atmospheric.
