Stopped in to try this cute little mom and pop style restraunt. Really cute atmosphere, service was GREAT! However, the food wasn’t very good. We got the fried fish special with fries and mac & cheese. The fish was delicious, the fries and mac & cheese, not so much. We also got the chicken fried chicken with salad and onion rings. The salad was nothing special, it was just ok. The rest of the meal was luke warm, not fresh at all. Very disappointed with the food to say the least.

This place used to be Hardee’s I believe but they’ve converted it to a family diner and did a great job. It’s pretty cute.
It was raining when we went and I read one review that was not happy about the leak. The restaurant still had a leak in the dining room but there were plenty of other tables away from it. It didn’t stop a lot of customers from enjoying their meals there, including us.
The waitress was friendly and promptly asked us what we wanted to drink. They have Pepsi products, not my favorite but the Diet Mt. Dew was mixed good and tasted great.
Hubby ordered a double cheeseburger and I got a grilled chicken sandwich with hot honey on the side. We both got fries. I asked for lettuce and tomato and the waitress got everything right.
The double cheeseburger was really good according to my husband and was really big beef patties. My grilled chicken was tender and cooked perfectly but could’ve used a little seasoning for my taste. The buns were toasted which makes a nice touch.
The fries were chunky but not steak fries exactly. They were hot when served but nothing spectacular. I wanted the pineapple upside down cake but we were both too full.
Overall it was a good meal and comfortable setting. Friendly staff and cute surroundings. I took a lot of photos. Even the bathrooms were decorated super cute and family friendly with a changing table in the one in the left, just make sure to lock the door. The bathrooms were extremely clean and had warm water to wash hands in. Stocked well. Music played in the speaker system which is nice.
They had what looked like locally made children’s clothing for sale in a little boutique area. Just a really cute place that seems to support locals which is great.

This place is great! I have Alpha-gal (red meat allergie) and this place has several different options I can choose from aside from just a chicken or fish sandwich. They had teriyaki chicken, Teriaky chicken stir fry, hot Turkey sandwiches and more! My Husband went with a burger which he said was really good!

Ever wanted to eat inside but also experience the outside? Just go when its raining. This has been a problem apparently. The floors have dry rot.
One Of the bathrooms is also out of order. The sink water is freezing cold.
I ordered the simplest breakfast. The eggs were WAY over cooked. Didn’t even finish them.
The chicken meal my boyfriend ordered looked seasoned but was flavorless.
The salad looks fancy. But not of any good lettuce.
I asked for lots of sugar with my coffee. She brings the little thing of sweetener. Not one packet of sugar. I had to walk up there and ask. Then she hands me another container. It only had a few. So I ask of she could just hand me a hand full of them and save herself a refill on the container later. I get 10 packets. Smh.
The waitress needs to listen & comprehend. Also use your eyes. You see that something didn’t get eaten. Esp the protein part… ask of something is wrong??

Food was great. We’ve been to Barbourville 5 times in the last 2 years (we visit from the UK) and this is the first time we tried the food here and can’t believe we missed it previously. Definitely going to be a regular for us now.

Nice job redecorating old fast food place. With a name like The Oven Mitt, we were looking for a quaint place with some fun or interesting menu selections. However, the meals we got, including the sides, were bland. The rice and broccoli looked like they were dumped right out of the Kroger container. The cocktail sauce was in the original plastic container. No seasoning. The presentation was boring. There is nothing here you couldn’t just cook at home for a lot cheaper. The restaurant has lots of potential, but this may be all that their regular clientele want.
