I’m honestly annoyed with my experience at The Otherdoor. I showed up around 11:30am and a bunch of the food was already out … like, gone …so I basically had to grab whatever scraps were left and call it a meal. Then the bill was $17… for that. Was it fresh? Maybe. Was it good? Absolutely not. Was it worth it? Definitely not. Even the quantity wasn’t good, because there wasn’t much left to begin with. I came here because the reviews looked great, but now I’m realizing not everything is what it looks like online. Not coming back.

Been consistently stopping by for years of taco bowls and tortillas. Glad to see them mixing it up with new proteins and options. Salsa options are extensive and I am partial to #1 #2 and #5 because of actual flavor and not just heat.

This is a hidden gem. I wasn’t aware of this restaurant until recently. I like the many options available for meats, salsa, toppings, corn or flour tortillas, etc. I’ve had the burrito bowl most recently. The chicken is moist and not overcooked and dry, the Pico is fresh, a wide variety of salsa choices from mild to hot. It’s so nice to have a great go-to restaurant that’s not the usual fast food fare and a really good Mexican restaurant nearby.

Finding the entrance is a bit hard. The restaurant name is only printed on the door and that too is places sideways. Nobody can notice it at first glance.
It is a cute little Mexican restaurant. Portion sizes are normal. They have burrito bowls just like Chipotle but better because they have 10 different sauces. Best burrito bowl ever !

Man this place REALLY fell off. Every time I go they’re out of at least one topping, but usually it’s a lot more. They’re also giving about half the meat they used to, I paid 17 for a barbacoa bowl with queso and there was almost no meat.
It pains me to say, as I used to LOVE this place and they have some of the best tortilla chips and salsa out there. But the prices have shot up and the quality has really gone downhill.
There wasn’t much food in the bowl considering I got rice, beans, meat, peppers and veggies, pickled jalapeños, corn salsa, and cabbage. And the little barbacoa I did get was incredibly dry and crunchy.
I don’t know man, it just really isn’t a good value at ALL. If I give them another shot, it won’t be for a whiiiiiiile.

I wish I had taken a few more photos. Think small fun local Chipotle style, but better. Pick tacos or burritos etc.. choose your protein and toppings.
Not cheap at $15 for 3 tacos and a soda. It is downtown Lake Bluff though, so what do you expected. That rent isn’t cheap.
I am not a fan of chipotle, but my family is. I want to take them here! It is so much better.
Definitely stop in for a quick lunch. The place had a lot of people in and out so that’s a good sign too. I will be back. Not often, but when I’m in the area and want hard shell tacos this is where I will go.
I agree with the owner’s reply about the prices. Given the quality of food and cost of location, it is reasonable. Just don’t be shocked by it.

This place used to be great but in the past few months they are getting cheap. They don’t give you as much rice or toppings but you still pay the same price. I got a bowl that wasn’t even half full for $9 today; one year ago you couldn’t out a lid on the bowl it was so full for $9.

Traded with Hubby so I had Duck, Steak, and Barbacoa with salsa #5 (zippy, but not melt your innards hot). Amazing, complex, customizable flavor and food.
