Service, food quality, ingredient quality, presentation, food temperature, unique homemade condiments, liquor offering and, staff attitude were all spot on.
The service- was excellent. Each staff member we interacted with was professional, friendly, and attentive. We couldn’t have been happier with our waitress- she was kind, explained the menu, and provided her personal recommendations and insight. All items came out in a reasonable amount of time.
The ambiance of the restaurant is quite dated- however, it is extremely clean and well cared for. I also think the dated interior is perhaps some of the charm and nostalgia of the restaurant- so no problem there.
Now on to the food. This place isn’t cheap and as such, I have high expectations for when I’m dinning at a restaurant charging a premium. What I ordered: french onion soup, side salad, and salmon over asparagus. The french onion wasn’t bad, but nothing special- and seemed under-seasoned- it was missing depth of flavor, however, they did a nice job with the crust and cheese topping. The side salad, very basic, yet the house-made strawberry vinaigrette was quite refreshing and and had a lovely strawberry flavor- without being overly sweet. Also, all of the greens in the salad were fresh.
As for the salmon special, although the salmon had a lovely crust, it was overcooked and did not taste especially fresh. There was also a heavy sauce overtop, that not only didn’t add to the dish but made everything taste the same. The asparagus were well prepared but lacked any seasoning.
I did try some of the other dishes at the table- the lobster bisque had a respectable flavor and generous portion of lobster meat- However, I personally was unimpressed with the other dishes.
For these prices, I expected more in terms of the food quality. I’m not someone who routinely leaves negative reviews- and this place certainly is not terrible and nothing was bad enough for me to complain to staff— however, the food was very mediocre.
Update:
I initially gave a 3 star review- which I honestly thought was quite generous. I also tried to be fair and balanced, highlighting the good aspects. However, based on the unprofessional response from the restaurant, I will edit that to a 1 start review.
First, Emily was our server and she was wonderful. Very attentive, kind and on top of everything. We arrive around 550, 10 min before our reservations. We were greeted immediately by one of the owners who sat us immediately and was very pleasant. My husband ordered one of the specials, 16oz strip steak with French onion sauce and garlic bread, he subbed a potato for salad and got soup as his side. I ordered the Osier chicken with white mashed. I asked if I could get the French onion and was told it was an up charge which I had no problem paying.
I don’t eat steak, ever, which is why I got chicken. My husband’s steak could literally be cut with a fork and was the best steak I ever tried. I was so envious and wished I got that entree instead and I never eat steak. He loved it also. My French onion soup was cooked to perfection and it was so refreshing to not have salt over power the soup like you normally get at most establishments. It was great. My chicken and potatoes were also cooked perfectly as well.
There only thing on my chicken I wish was different was that the chicken itself was seasoned more. However, I am not a chef and maybe they feel it would take away from all the toppings, it was good either way. The other thing is that my “up charge” for the soup was actually the full price for the soup. Had I known that I would have got the salad that came with my meal too, for free, and the soup as well. I should have clarified and asked what the up charge was.
Lastly, most of the complaints I saw on google was because of how long it took to dine here. Wasn’t our experience at all. I purposely noted the times to see what the fuss was about. One of the quickest dinners we’ve ever had.

I had requested same table, main dining room. When got there we were basically put in hallway to huge dining room in back, acoustics were awful had to shout to each other, couldn’t hear servers.
Then the service. I don’t pay $80 for a steak and 20% mandatory gratuity to have pitchers of water on the table. I go to chunky cheese for that. And the whole experience was more fast casual versus fine dining. The food was good, not their best by any means. And family dessert staple crème brûlée not available, then final send off waitress calls my birthday grandson by wrong name.
So they were subpar on every front, are they becoming party house? I may never pay to find out hopefully can find other place between Rochester and Buffalo. If anyone has suggestions please chime in.
The evening was saved by being with good family, but we don’t have to and won’t drive 50 minutes for the experience of last night.
