Brian McDermott had a passion for working in restaurants and The Original Pancake House was a perfect fit. After years of experience in the industry, he realized he wanted an Original Pancake House of his own. In 1986, Brian McDermott brought the breakfast franchise to Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the items listed on our Kid’s Menu reference the historic train station. Since 1996, The Original Pancake House in Indianapolis has been closed, but Brian and his family have worked hard to keep their locations (Indianapolis, Fishers and Noblesville) running smoothly. His wife Charlene, daughter Colleen and son Andrew are devoted to keeping The Original Pancake House a part of Indianapolis’s history and your favorite breakfast restaurant!
Signature pancakes & other American breakfast classics all day in a casual setting.

Excellent food. The waiter struggled differentiating between Diet and regular coke. But, coming off a 24-hour fast, I’d struggle thinking of a better way to break fast. The strawberry syrup is divine.

This was my son and I first time here. It is a bit pricey but it’s very well worth it. The portion sizes are great. From my understanding they make everything in house, and you can tell. It taste great. The staff was very friendly as well. We live 2 hours away but will definitely be back when we are in town again. Even though we dont have The Original Pancake House in our area, we bought a cup anyways, a great souvenir.

I have been coming here for years. The food is really good but i truly come for my hostess Liz Garcia. She makes you feel welcomed and at home. Her smile lights up the place and she has an amazing memory and ask me if i will have the same thing as i did before. She takes the time to get to know you and your orders without having to write them down. I laugh every time i get the country bowl as she will sing to you “Thank God Im a country bowl”. As much as i enjoy the food, this place would not be the same without her. If she were to leave and go anywhere else we would follow her just for her skills and kindness. Thank you OPH for having a staff member like Liz.

Our family had breakfast here while visiting Indianapolis last week. The highlight of our visit was our server Jessica. She absolutely has the best personality and truly has a gift with working with the public. The food, as always, was really good but Jessica was on top of things and made our experience that much better. Should Jessica wonder who wrote this review, we are the sweet tea people from down South . Thank you Jessica and it was great meeting and talking to you and good luck in your endeavors. With your personality we have no doubt you will go far in life.

Be aware if you decide to have a meal here that if you happen to get a server by the name of Santiago, let it be known that I have filed a formal compliment about this young man. What an impressive young man.
His attention to detail his professionalism, his courtesy, his ability to truly make us feel like special guest was amazing. It is really refreshing to see someone who genuinely cares about their craft. Oh, by the way, the food was amazing and refreshingly good… But I want to be very clear that Santiago was really the key to our wonderful experience. Thank you.
We will be back

Aireal with Offline – The staff at The Original Pancake House were friendly and welcoming. They also helped us ifentify the best way to order our meal as some items are al la carte. The food was also incredible and I will be back for the strawberry waffles again soon!

A very substandard experience. Upon entering, the hostess was visiting with someone and there was an extended wait to be seated. Another extended wait for the server. My country fried steak was ok, not great, not awful. Home fries were room temperature at best. I was going to send them back to be nuked, but our server had once again disappeared. Don’t anticipate returning.

Our favorite waitress/writer is Elizabeth and Andres. They make sure our food is of good quality. They are also there checking in to see if we need anything. They both know how to take care of their customers. The bus boy is awesome.

I think the pancakes are wayy too ready, dint like them at all but the waffles are great but too expensive (12.00 for one waffle) They cooks always get something wrong on my order then it takes too long to correct it but the wait staff always does the best to correct it. They gave me weird super runny eggs and the waitress took it off my bill but I would have loved to have had my waffle and egg together.. Coffee wasn’t fresh. Hate to say it but my food was outstanding when the state board of health was here, wish they didnt have to be here to get outstanding food, oh and my table was dirty, so I asked for a towel and the manager waved me off and said” he’ll get one for you”, as if she was annoyed, Im sure she saw thr crumbs and should have cleaned it herself. So the reason for 3 stars is that the waffle was good and the waitress was polite and had a positive attitude but the food is always hit or miss in getting to you and taste

Very unusual omelette, it seemed baked and the egg was like bread. Maybe beaten with some flour? I’ve never had one like it. Pancakes are good, with a yeast flavor. Gravy is very good, thick. Spent $52 for 2 people, so, expensive. I asked if toast came with it, he thought I wanted toast then charged $4. Coffee is $4 so $52 in the end. We likely won’t be back but we aren’t from the area so….
