Johnson’s Dairy Bar is an established part of Northwood, NH’s history, with its roots going back to the 50’s. Although the Johnsons sold the establishment back in the 80’s, the family-driven mindset has always been a crucial part of the business as it passed hands. Family owned and operated for the past 21 years, Johnson’s has grown and expanded, with the current owners opening its sister-brewery, Northwoods Brewing Company, in 2018. Johnson’s continues to be a walk down memory lane with generations of families visiting each year for ice cream, fried seafood, steak-tips, and takeout, while at the same time providing new experiences. Mackenzie was our server, and she was awesome! Big portions of food, at a fair price. We were seated right away, in spite of it being pretty busy, and Mackenzie was attentive without hovering, and took great care of us.

Love Johnson’s!! Hadn’t been for years as we have moved out of the area. But glad to see beyond adding on the Brewery their food and serving sizes have not changed!! We got the Haddock bites, Clam Chowder and Onion Rings. Their fried food is always very lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Had a lot of food so we had to pass on the ice cream-but I know that’s always amazing!

Had a busy, yet attentive waitress. She offered me refill before I asked. I had the clam chowder, sampled some buffalo wings, and the pictured burger and fries. It was busy, but there wasn’t much of a wait. Prices were just about right.

A huge improvement in service. Friendly staff. Was in town for 2 days and ate here both. Ice cream portions are ridiculously huge. A banana split was easily a half gallon of ice cream. Love the beer battered chicken fingers. Steak tips were fabulous as always.

Went to the original restaurant side of Johnson’s restaurant in Northwood today. There are two restaurants on the property: the brewery side, where they serve pizza and wings and, of course, libations, in a casual, clean, open concept atmosphere, and the original restaurant, where you can get a wide variety of food and drinks and sit at booths or tables. One of the people I was with ordered the three tacos plate, with one of each shrimp, steak, and haddock. He said it was excellent. I had a large garden salad with chicken tenders on it and honey mustard dressing which was also excellent. Another person had the Garden wrap. And the other person had a Prime rib steak and cheese on a brioche bun. The onion rings and fries were crispy and delicious! Everyone loved their meals. The service was awesome and the food seemed very fresh.

Was a bit hesitant to try this restaurant as some of the recent reviews were pretty harsh. In my reading management had responded to the criticism and I figured we would try it out as the location worked well on our drive home.

My experience at the Take Out was terrible. I ordered a simple lobster roll and a bowl of clam chowder. I was the number 43. I went to the desk after having waited for 20min (they were at 52) and i’ve been told that it was taking a little bit longer than usual and to stay patient. No problem. After another 25 minutes (so 45 total), I went back and they simply stated that “some orders were lost” and didn’t even try to accommodate me. I do not recommend that place.

Took the family to dinner and everyone really enjoyed the food. All off us adults also enjoyed sampling the craft beers. Our server Emily was top notch! Attentive, efficient and pleasant. We all agreed we will eat here again.

We stopped after a soccer game & were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we were served! We weren’t the only ones with the idea to stop here as the parking lot was full! Much to our surprise the staff had it under control! We were able to order, eat & be back on the road within the hour! Would recommend.. worth the trip!
