my first time here and the staff was very friendly and accommodating! having to temporarily get around using a knee scooter isn’t easy but they made a huge difference in making sure i was comfortable for my dining experience! this is the first restraunt that i’ve been to that values the customer experience! will definitely become a regular here ☺️

The place is bright and open and while there is a sign that asks you to wait, chances are, tell just tell you to pick a table. I always know it’s gonna be good when I’m the only yt person in the place. I had the chirizo-quilles. It was just spicy enough to be flavorful with being Too spicey!! Great portion size too……alas still haven’t found a refried bean that doesn’t have that TeXtUrE, ya know? Highly recommend anyway!
Almost forgot!! Mariachi Muzac is my favorite!! Thriller was execttional cover.

I dropped by Blanco Café on Commerce Street in San Antonio one mellow Wednesday afternoon around 1:15 PM. The place was calm, no rush or crowd, and we were greeted and seated faster than you can say “enchiladas.” Menus in hand, drinks on the way, it was a smooth start.

I went for the cheese enchiladas topped with beef fajita meat, plus the classic duo of refried beans and rice. When the food arrived, it was piping hot and ready to impress. The enchiladas were cheesy, the beef was flavorful, and the plate overall hit the Tex-Mex comfort zone just right.

Now, here’s the twist, no chips and salsa! We asked, but they just didn’t offer it. A little surprising for a Tex-Mex spot, and honestly, a side of salsa might’ve turned “good” into “great.”

Still, Blanco Café served up a solid, no-frills lunch in a relaxed setting. Just be prepared to bring your own salsa spirit!

I love Blanco cafe ❤. It’s nice to have them back again in downtown SA. One of the workers is even back from the old downtown location which is really cool. I ate lunch the first day they opened and had a delicious bowl of caldo de res. The service and atmosphere were on point. The last few days I have also stopped by for breakfast tacos (bacon and egg, carne guisada and barbecoa). Everything has been perfect. If you are in the downtown area I highly recommend you stopping by. They have the best Tex Mex food in all of downtown. I have edited this review since my first one to add more pictures of awesome food from here. (Enchilada plate. Carne Guisada plate)

I work downtown and come here at least 1-2 times a week. It’s always a reliable taco option. I love how nice and soft their tortillas are. Between this place, La Mexicana, and Poblano’s, I will usually always choose Blanco Cafe.

Price is good but the Mexican food lacks in taste. I’m Hispanic and know how authentic Mexican food taste and this meal fell short. Still was decent.

Diner-Style which I expected for a breakfast and lunch only restaurant. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was great. The carne guisada was AMAZING. The green sauce is spicy but flavorful. We loved everything.

I ordered the Thursday lunch special, Steak Picado. The meat and charro beans were flavorful, but the fideo was tasteless. The fideo tasted like it was just tomato sauce and fideo noodles without any seasoning at all. They’re homemade corn tortillas are delicious. My husband ordered the Caldo de Res and was disappointed. The soup was a bit cold and the broth was not tasty. It didn’t have any seasoning or flavoring. I told my husband maybe the cook was having an off day so we will try again sometime soon.
