We’ve been here several times recently and in the past. When it was Double B’s and now that it’s the Old Mountaineer. When we first started going here, we were blown away. The food was great and so was the service. However, over the past year, there’s been a big difference. Every time we go in, it seems to be more and more relaxed and less and less professionalism and service. Recently, we sat for over 6 minutes. Waiting on menus and silverware and had to ask for condiments several times before they were brought. There were two servers for the whole restaurant on a Friday night? Our fries were soggy and laying in a pool of grease in the fry paper. My mashed potatoes we’re so hard I could cut them in cubes. Others around us had the same complaint about their fries, but I noticed they seemed extremely happy with their burgers, as was my son. I should have ordered a burger. The chicken was not good, it lacked flavor. Not sure if we’ll go back. This is the 3rd time not so happy with service. It had nothing to do with their friendliness or being lazy. They were working hard, and they were running their butts off, but just not enough help for the customers to be served. We and others around us didn’t get drinks refilled till it was time to go and several orders were missing items, then had to wait for them to be delivered to the table or to get them at all. Disappointed, we loved supporting this local business.

We was there tonight I got the $24 steak and added shrimp the steak had no flavor the mashed potatoes was lumpy. The side salad was the best thing.. all total it was over $60. Worst meal ever.. told the waitress and she said she would tell someone. Left the potatoes there and took the steak home to doctor it up. Asked for well done and it was med well.. very un happy

Had been to Tractor Supply and picked up a trailer. Friend said he had ate there before and it was real good so we stopped. Had plenty of place to park was a plus. Went in, sat down, ordered drinks, then food and salads. Got our drinks, then our house salads, then our food. He had Seafood basket, I had Country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. It was all really good. Our waitress was good, checked on us several times. Definitely will be back when in the area.

We decided to try out Double B’s Bar and Grill at the recommendation of the front desk clerk at our hotel. The recommendation was a good one.
We ordered the Jalapeño Cheddar Balls as an appetizer. These were spicy and delicious. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with a side of onion rings and green beans. My wife ordered the pot roast dinner with carrots and green beans.
Portions are more than enough and there was plenty for us to sample each other’s meal. The food was really good. Since we were traveling I didn’t want to take any leftovers so I pretty much clean mine and my wife’s plate before the dessert.
Our waitress, Sydney was very friendly and attentive. Our glasses were never empty and since this wasn’t a fast food restaurant, I have to say the meals came out in a reasonable amount of time once we placed our order. I decided to try the Apple Dumpling for dessert. I must say this was an excellent choice to top off the meal.
We will definitely try to visit again. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Food has been severely lacking every time I’ve visited so probably will never return. Pretzel appetizer was warm on the outside and ice cold in the center so obviously microwaved. Similar issue with cheese bites. My pot roast was good but the mashed potatoes got that weird crumbly texture that happens when reheated (I’d bet the microwave is an important part in their kitchen). Also our waitress apparently forgot to put things on our bill so the total when we went to pay was more than what was given to us at the table.

Ordered 10 hot and 5 old bay wings, they mixed up the order and gave us 5 hot and 10 old bay. I politely asked for them to bring us the correct order and they brought us 5 additional hot. When the bill came we were charged for 20 wings, I asked for the 5 we didn’t order to be taken off the bill. The manager said they had already been served and they couldn’t take them off the bill. I explained we didn’t order them and offered to give them back, at which point the manager took it off the bill, told us not to worry about it and we paid. As we were leaving Bruce from the kitchen came out and demanded that we not leave with the wings we didn’t pay for. He was aggressive and rude, I handed the 5 wings we didn’t eat back to him and left.
Edit: because the owner replied below I feel the need to restate that we paid for everything except for the 5 additional wings that we were given by mistake, which I personally handed back to Bruce after he confronted us on the way out, which occurred only after I had already offered to give them back to the server to take them off the bill and the server did not take them.

Only reviewing the bar side. I hadn’t been in there in 25 years. It is updated, cozy, and fun. Bartenders are great and the drink prices are good.

We wanted a steak which was on a menu but found out only on Friday and Saturday nights. Order a Seafood basket and it was not good…fish tasted off and class cooked too much. They did offer to take it off the ticket.

Stopped in after a long day of driving. There’s a restaurant with a separate area for the bar, very family friendly. 8 taps on hand and also many bottles available. Had a great meal (lots of options). Breakfast, lunch and dinner as you please. A+ in my book!
