My husband and I have been a few times and we love this place. The location is great and they have beautiful views. I’m really confused about some of the negative reviews about the service. We have not experienced that at all. Every time we have gone the staff has been warm and friendly. The food is great and they have a wide variety of ice cream. Looking forward to continuing to support this local business.

⭐ Restaurant Review: The Oaks

The Oaks shows a lot of promise, with great views especially for families, travelers, and anyone enjoying the lakes and mountain activities nearby. They appear able to accommodate guests with disabilities, though calling ahead is helpful so the staff can prepare. Kids will enjoy the children’s menu options and the Farr’s Ice Cream counter right at the entrance.

The menu offers good variety at reasonable prices, and the food was impressive for a newly opened location. We ordered a cup of tomato soup that had a unique, ravioli-like flavor, nicely breaded onion rings, and two Ogden Canyon Sunrise Sandwiches with fries—everything was delicious. The fry sauce has a hint of mustard, which is different but not unpleasant. Service was friendly, and although a bit slow, it was only their second day open, so improvements are likely as the team settles in.

Upon entering, guests are greeted by the ice cream bar and the host stand. I was warmly welcomed by the owner, who offered friendly conversation while we waited briefly for our table. The restaurant includes a smaller dining room near the front and a larger dining area and spacious outdoor patio past the hallway by the restrooms.

The patio, in particular, has incredible potential. With the addition of outdoor heaters, lighting, and perhaps local live entertainment, it could easily become a year-round gathering spot and a major local attraction. I’m excited to return and hopefully enjoy a beautifully lit, heated patio with live music and good company.

The Oaks is well-situated, surrounded by destinations like Pineview reservoir, Causey reservoir, Edelweiss Bed & Breakfast, The Alaskan Inn, Jackson Fork Inn, Wolf Creek Resort, and the nearby ski areas—Snowbasin and Nordic Valley.
Whether you’re stopping in after a summer day at the lake or during the winter ski season, it’s a great option for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a drink or sweet treat from the ice cream bar.

Overall, The Oaks has the foundation to become the HOT SPOT IN THE CANYON.
Picture this: after a long day in the mountains or by the water, you unwind on a heated, a lively, twinkle-lit patio, enjoying dinner, local live music, and a Farr’s ice cream cone on your way out. It’s exactly the kind of experience that can turn a good restaurant into a favorite destination.

I will be back!

Servers were super friendly and kind. Food was wonderful. Sweet potato fries were perfectly salted and the Spicy Italian burger had great flavor. Would definitely recommend coming to try!

Absolutely family-friendly gem! We visited with a big group of 16—mostly noisy kids—and the staff was incredibly patient and welcoming. They kindly gave us our own private room, which was perfect so we didn’t disturb other diners (the waitress mentioned they even have a larger room for parties of 20+). Service was friendly and surprisingly fast despite the chaos. The breakfast was delicious—everything cooked just right and generous portions. We’ll definitely be back! Bonus: there’s a lovely patio overlooking the river with seating, which would be ideal for summer meals or enjoying ice cream with a view. Highly recommend for families!

I’m sharing a picture of the room we sat at but there’s more to see.

So excited that this place is open again. Our food was great and our waitress was super sweet, I think her name was Camille. The only problem was that the dining room was freezing. But otherwise it was a great experience and we will be going back.

I don’t understand or agree with the negative reviews. After my third visit (twice for breakfast, once for dinner) I thought I should give my honest positive feedback. The short and to the point version: the service is friendly, the food is satisfying and very affordable. I’ve seen complaints about the smell, but have never smelled anything odd/unpleasant. Yes its not lightning fast but you can tell the service people are working hard or get you taken care of and you’ll still be in and out at a reasonable pace. I definitely don’t agree that it’s so slow you have to walk out. I’ve been sat, seated and eating quickly all three times I’ve visited with my wife. The breakfast is delicious and the dinner is outstanding. Recommend the Swiss and mushroom burger.

Was very excited for this place to be open again. Major disappointment. Service was extremely slow and we were told there was a “15 minute delay” with the kitchen before we could order. We were fine with this and ordered coffee while waiting. The coffee tasted like water with a hint of coffee in it. Our cups were empty and not once were we offered a refill. Once we were able to place our order (two burgees), we patiently waited for our food to never arrive. We got told by a server that our order was coming only to wait ten morw minutes after with no food. The staff was real friendly with a family that they all seemed to know, but ignored everyone else around them. Service was very slow and staff looked like they just woke up and threw whatever they had lying on the floor on. Sad, as this place with its location and ambience could be great. Unfortunately, will not be returning and I don’t see this place staying open once the novelty wears off.

We were so excited to come here once we heard they had reopened. I could not have been more disappointed. Most of the employees were wearing sweat pants, there was a very off putting smell upon walking in. The food was very fast but it was cold. Not warm, cold cold. The hash browns looked like they were from a few days ago and they pulled them out of the fridge a threw them on the plate. We didn’t even try to attempt to eat them. I’m usually willing to give a place a couple of shots but will definitely not be go back to The Oaks.

As a local, we were excited about another restaurant. They were a bit short staffed but apologetic and did eventually get all our orders correct.
My hot chocolate was not hot (just above warm) but was delicious.
Waters were eventually filled.
Fries were good and I liked the onion rings.
Food tasted fresh and was in good quantities for the price.
I look forward to the patio being open this summer.

What a fantastic little restaurant in the canyon, the food portions were enormous, the view fantastic, and the atmosphere (there is nothing better than being in the mountains). Will return again for lunch one day.
