Social Profile:

The Oakley – Kitchen & Cocktails, is an elegant yet cozy gastropub. Established in 2019, the eatery is named after the legendary sharpshooter Annie Oakley. When she wasn’t traveling with the famed Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, she was a beloved Nutley resident throughout the late 1800s. Nutley local, Khristopher Reina, had a vision of bringing excellent food, great drinks, a fun atmosphere, and live music to his hometown. With that in mind, he purchased the historic Park Pub in 2018. And with the help of local designers and contractors, he transformed the 6,500 square foot, 2-story restaurant into the spacious gastro lounge valued patrons enjoy today.

I’ve had dinner and cocktails here numerous times and I’m never disappointed! Drinks are fantastic! You’ll also have a good chance of having some live music during dinner, which is always a nice added touch.

I also had the pleasure of working directly with Khris for a school event on the 2nd floor. It was a comedy night (which I had never hosted before) so his suggestions and guidance made everything feel so easy. On the night of the event, the staff was very attentive to our party of over 80 people, which was definitely an integral part of the event’s success.

I really enjoyed this place. The pizza was phenomenal and the staff was super-friendly. I especially appreciate Oakley has done recently for people who depend on SNAP. I salute them.

This was my second and most likely last time here. My 1st was pretty good, there was a private event downstairs and so my friend and I sat upstairs at the bar and the food and drinks were good. Tonight my husband and I went for dinner and we ordered 2 glasses of red wine. The glasses were small and not even half full and at $15 per glass I was not thrilled. My burger was good but the French fries were so salty and had so much black pepper that I was not able to eat it. It’s not like the place was busy as it was so cold out, we were the only 2 people in the dining area.
My husband was not happy that he even left his boneless chicken wing and he was not even mad. Will not return.

Great service, delicious food, and a very cool atmosphere (Annie Oakley artwork on the walls). My boyfriend and I both had burgers, which were very tasty, well seasoned, and quite large. They have trivia night every Wednesday at six o’clock pm, and they have live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. They also have apple parking.

Crab cakes were cold, French fries were stuck together. Hamburger was overcooked and the bun was too small for the burger. French Onion Soup was warm, but still better than last time. We gave it another chance from the last we were disappointed. We will not be returning. The dining room could use some decorating.

Walking up to the place we already loved the ambiance of the lighting strung all around the building and the outdoor seating section. Indoors is also a very cool low key vibe. We got the pizza and the pasta Primavera and a couple drinks. Everything was amazing, the service, the food, the drinks, the prices, the vibe. Great place, definitely recommend and we will be back for more date nights!

Great for watching football! Came for the Sunday Football specials so I could munch while my husband watched the games. I learned that the specials were only at the bar which was fine because there was plenty of seating. I was never handed anything with the Sunday Football specials on it so I just referred to the online menu I pulled up on my phone. My husband loved that there were so many tvs and all the games were on. The atmosphere gave a fun chill vibe. We ordered chicken nachos and bbq sliders. Both were good but the bbq sliders were definitely our favorite. Will definitely be back in the future!

Perhaps it was a bad day for the restaurant, but I really wasn’t feeling any aspect. As an expert reviewer it hurts me to give such a low rating, but there just isn’t anything I can brag about. It seems like this place was just thrown together. The menu doesn’t compliment itself, the drinks weren’t satisfying (margaritas and martinis) and the service wasn’t really great either. I want to spare the details of why my Cajun shrimp wasn’t very good. It’s just every aspect of all the food wasn’t there. The pulled pork was dry, the burger wasn’t cooked properly and the jumbo wings weren’t jumbo (should just be called wings). I feel bad honestly with this rating because I had high hope and I hope of you try it and think I’m wrong, but I give the Oakley a 1 out of 5, and a sad face emoji.

A very decent place. The food was tasty and not salty like most all other restaurants and finally I had two well prepared martinis called Japanese cocktail and tasted a specialty drink called pirate martini which was excellent. The pirate martini is the blue looking drink. Also wanted to mention they had live music and the service was awesome.

I went to Oakley Kitchen in Nutley to celebrate my birthday, and it was the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, yet our food took over an hour to come out. When we brought it up, there was no apology, no explanation, and no attempt to make things right.

To make matters worse, the staff was rude and dismissive from the moment we said something. And the manager, Nicole, was especially unprofessional. Her customer service skills seriously need work — instead of trying to resolve the issue, she acted like we were the problem.

For a place that presents itself as a nicer local spot, the service was unacceptable. I would never go back, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone — especially if you’re planning a special occasion. Total disappointment. I’m a local resident of Nutley and will be sure to let everyone know of my terrible experience at your establishment. I even asked for the owner number and they refused to provide it. I found it anyway and I left a voicemail. I will be expecting a call back Kristopher.

Edit:
Your response says everything I needed to know about how this place is run. Instead of addressing the service issues I experienced, you chose to insult a customer and bring up irrelevant personal details. That’s incredibly unprofessional for an owner.
My review was based on how I was treated during my visit — dismissively and without any attempt to correct the situation. Your reaction here just reinforces exactly why the experience was so disappointing.
Thank you for confirming that the problem wasn’t the staff, but the leadership. I stand by every word of my review.
