The best part of being an otr trucker is finding great places to eat with friendly service, delicious food and cold beverages! THE OAK TAVERN IS A GEM!
Our server Spring was super friendly and was kicking butt behind the busy bar.
We ordered the whisky mushroom Swiss burger!!! Wow! What a flavorful tasty burger. It had crispy edges but not dry at all. We tried some new beer for us that was pretty good too!
Live music is a bonus. We would’ve stayed longer if we didn’t have to hit the road early.
We’ll definitely come back again. Would love to party outside next time.

Ordered country fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Almost too heavy of a hand with the pepper, but that’s all I can think of to complain about. The chicken was moist and tender, the breading stuck well to it. The gravy paired well with both the chicken and the mashed potatoes. The green beans were tender and crisp. I may have found my new favorite place to get country fried chicken. This bodes well for the country fried steak.

Update: we stopped back at The Oak Tavern on our way home 6 days later. Still amazing! My husband and I both had the pork tenderloin sandwiches- delicious! There was a band playing and our kids had so much fun dancing. We had another wonderful server – Shay – and she did a great job! Our girls loved her!! Thanks again for the great experience.

The Oak Tavern in Oak Grove, Missouri—what a great local spot! I remember this building from when I was a kid, back when it was a plumbing shop. It sat empty for years, so it’s been amazing to see it restored and brought back to life. The previous owners did a fantastic job renovating it, and now, as The Oak Tavern, it’s become one of my favorite local places.

The food is on point! My son got the burger and it looked fantastic and he loved it! I had the fried fish. Despite it being greasy, it was righteous! Batter was delicious. Wife had the pork tenderloin sandwich and it was good but unremarkable. Overall, good price for the quality of food. Service was impeccable and we will be back to try the pretzels or a pizza maybe. Good job guys!

We went on a Sunday so it’s not ever really crowded. The food is pretty tasty and it’s pretty layed back. Steak sandwich is amazing, but so are the burgers and chicken strips. The big plus to good food is cold beer and its close to home. Prices are as expected for a bar, maybe a little cheaper.

1st time here. A local spot. Plenty of TVs to watch football games. Service was spot on. Everyone was very friendly. I had the smash burger, not something I typically eat. It was cooked right and delicious. I ordered the tots crispy and that’s how they came out. My husband had the cheesesteak and said it was very good as well. The pretzel appetizer was also excellent. I missed it the first time we drove by. Parking in the back. We will be back! I definitely recommend. Military discount offered.

Wow! This quaint little spot has it all. I have been several times now and honestly can’t think of one bad thing to say about it. The servers are great, the food superb and the place (atmosphere), it’s what keeps me coming back. Might as well add, the Brisket Nachos are super yum! They smoke their brisket. Try them out, they’re sure to impress.
