The New York Restaurant in downtown Harbor Springs offers an eclectic cuisine in a comfortable setting, overlooking Little Traverse Bay’s waterfront. We feature fine gourmet dining, a professional and attentive wait staff and talented bartenders.
Our restaurant opens daily at 5:00 p.m. and features nightly appetizer and dinner specials. Please come as you are, we do not enforce a dress code.
The New York is available for private parties throughout the year and we also offer a small private dining room for more intimate gatherings. Reservations are recommended, particularly on weekends, holidays and special events.
Locally sourced American cuisine & an ample wine list presented in an elegant historic venue.

First time @ The New York Restaurant. Very enjoyable dinner! Started with a so so corn chowder and a simple salad. Our main entree was the fresh swordfish (excellent sauce) and the herb roasted chicken, fingerling potatoes, balsamic onions, both delicious! Dessert was a fresh peach crisp (fantastic) with vanilla ice cream. Although the interior of this historic building is absolutely beautiful, the only issue is that the chairs are the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on for dinner.

Came in last night to check out this spot as a potential place to host our Rehearsal Dinner. We were greeted by the friendliest staff (Jamie) who was prepared for our visit and eager to show us the space. Our waitress, Paige, was wonderful, personable, and so attentive, and of course, our meal was wonderful. We are so excited to return this summer and are sure our friends and family will love it here!

Great service, some really good things are here. The beacon jam was really good and the scallops were cooked perfectly. The bread and butter was delicious, and the drinks were perfect. Unfortunately the perfect cut of steak I ordered was a bit more cooked than a medium rare, there was too much of the heart of the red lettuce in the beet salad,, and the hair like substance found in the wife’s fish was a bit off-putting. Maybe we caught them in an off night.

Love the beautiful building, the amazing staff, chef Matt and his wife are incredible hosts, and the location can’t be beat. The food is always incredible and they will go above and beyond for it, especially for our 4 year old daughter who has celiac.

The New York has always been one of my absolute favorite restaurants to go to when I visit Harbor Springs! Last nights dinner was no exception. The staff here is very kind and attentive. The food is very good and there are lots of options on the menu. The wine list is very impressive (they also have beer and cocktails).
I had the half duck and my boyfriend had the fried chicken. Both were very generous portions (especially the fried chicken). We also got their bumpy cake for dessert. Perfect date night dinner location to wrap up our weekend trip. I always recommend this place to friends when they are planning to visit harbor springs and it’s a must visit for me each year when I come up.

Outstanding fine dinning experience tonight! Kari and the rest of the staff provided impeccable service. We will certainly revisit next time we’re in the area. The perfect place to celebrate my 3 year anniversary to the love of my life…

The atmosphere is very nice. The service was very good. The food was average. Our soup was lukewarm and didn’t have a lot of taste. The whitefish was good, but not anything special.

Outstanding salmon, good filet mignon – great, attentive service at the bar! Certain entrees are b1g1 between 5:00 and 5:30. Reservations are apparently required, though – we got the last two seats at the bar, while 3 tables sat empty the whole time we were there. It got very loud and crowded at the bar toward end of our meal.

This was our first time to New York and given the previous rave, 10 star, OMG!! reviews and reputation we were very disappointed in our food. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and fettuccine and would measure everything to the quality of a Golden Corral buffet. The fried chicken did not include a breast but smaller pieces and if KFC chicken is given a rating of 7.5 then NY fried chicken would rate a 5.0. The mashed potatoes and gravy were nothing special and not home made. Cafeteria level food. The peas were from a frozen bag and then microwaved. What was really low class was the charge of $2 for a small piece of baguette that was not fresh and probably from the Walmart bakery. With so many excellent local bakeries in Harbor Springs and Petoskey one would think they could have better bread. My wife had some sushi and this was not very good at all. She remarked that the sushi she buys at Publix was actually much better.
New York has an excellent bar and is probably a fun place for a cocktail but the price and quality of the food leave one feel they were snookered. The service was excellent as is the ambiance but there are other much better restaurants in the area.
