Warned in advance the 1/2 chicken was 40 minutes. So worth the wait. Potato Gratin to die for. Hubby’s steak was perfect and more than he could eat. Nothing this good between here and the Canadian border. After a couple days of road food this was simply amazing!!! I’m a good cook and not easily wowed but this was WOW. Our waitress was out of her element on an evening shift and it was busy and still she was wonderful!!

Great laid back place to enjoy an exceptional meal. This is where professional cooking meets Montanan atmosphere. The food is well prepared food so don’t expect to be in and out in 15 minutes. Sit back, put the phone away, and visit with one another… allow yourself to relax a bit 😉 The owners genuinely want you to enjoy not just the meal, but the whole experience of connecting with eachother. 10 out of 10!

We always ate at the Montanan as we have a cabin here. Love it. Fast forward to new owners… Cmon you guy’s I’ve seen the plates coming out and the food looks great. We went there a month ago and you didn’t have liquor yet so we ordered to go. It took 20 minutes just to put our order in and you had 2 hostesses just standing there. We came back tonight no liquor license again, no problem. But we sat there for 20 minutes. I saw some what looked like amazing food come out but no one acknowledged us or even brought water. We left. We’ll keep trying I’m sure you have amazing food as we’ve heard. Service just needs help.

Adding to my embarrassingly recent visit, we went again and the Salmon Cobb Salad was amazing. It looks huge, but there’s more “stuff” than lettuce, which is very filling! The salmon is cooked perfect. My only request would be a huckleberry dressing, since they have a huckleberry glazed salmon entree. Haven’t tried that yet, maybe next time.

What a difference a year makes. Last year for the flea market we had lunch here. Food was pretty good and service was good. This year we got seated and never saw a soul after that. We waited for 15 minutes and not even a glass of water. We left. What a disappointment.

OK. We came in late, 40 minutes before closing, so maybe the staff was tired, but the food was just OK–expensive for “just okay” food. Server will get better with experience. They were courteous but a little forgetful — and they did tell us at the outset they did not have their liquor license yet. Maybe a beer would have made the experience better.

It’s our 34th wedding anniversary, and we celebrated at The Montanan tonight. Service was excellent, food was excellent and the company wasn’t bad. Just kidding honey! Will definitely be back again. Thank you Montanan for making our bellies full and our night special!

I heard this was under new ownership, I’m from out of state absolutely fantastic food. I had the salmon cobb salad it was delicious!!! Kudos to the cooks!!!! Waitress was very nice and friendly too!!
