Came here for the first time with some family and I have to say the atmosphere is amazing. The live music was really good and lots of people were playing volleyball and bags. Service was lackluster, we sat at our table around 15 minutes before we found ourselves wandering up to the bar to order drinks ourselves since the waiter didn’t seem interested in helping us. After we got our drinks and got back to the table the waiter finally came. He took our food order and left. About 20 minutes later he came back to check on our drinks. Food came about 20 minutes after that, and we were all excited to eat. In our 5 person group, 3 people had burgers, 1 had wings, and I had a spicy chicken sandwich. I wish I had taken a picture of my chicken breast when it arrived. It was a little bit bigger than the size of a credit card and almost just as flat. It was the most pathetic piece of meat I’ve ever seen. I showed my aunt as she said she had the sandwich before and she thought it was the wrong type of meat. I cracked a piece off, as it was so over cooked it was brittle. The inside was white and clearly chicken. Now when I say this was flat, there was no way this piece of chicken was thicker than 3/16″. The waiter came by and asked how things were. I’m not the type to ever complain, but my aunt said to show him the chicken. So I did and he shrugged and said “I’m not the one cooks it” and then walked away. It was like eating shoe leather. Now I gave 3 stars for food because the fries and tater tots were good and everyone else’s food was good. From what I understand, the spicy chicken sandwich is typically good. The service was mediocre, but the atmosphere really makes up for it all. As a group, it was a decent experience, individually for me, I had a good time, but my meal was terrible.

This is a fun neighborhood bar with an outdoor venue, volleyball court, outside stage for bands along with outdoor tables and an outdoor bar and an indoor bar. Usually an older calm crowd but us youngsters come through and as long as you’re respectful, it’s a good time for adults. Service is always good, obviously it’s going to take longer when it’s packed.
Plus you can smoke cigarettes

We each had drinks and beers (Viking beer was a total hit with the boys) and a few small bites and just enjoyed the yard and later on a band played and there were bon fires. It was my perfect night out! The staff was amazing and happy to be there! The band was fabulous! We are not from here and I just wish our town had something like this. Keep it up!

Horrible music, disgusting food, and even worse customer service. We all ordered chicken sandwiches and received nothing but charred meat that looked like it had been run over by a semi truck. What was labeled as a “Monk Favorite” grilled chicken BREAST came out to be a lame and thin chicken STRIP that the ancient monks would surely find unappetizing. When we expressed our disappointment with our server Megan, she showed no consideration and told us that a manager would be out to discuss this matter with us. Clearly there was no sense of urgency present as it took an additional 15 minutes to get a manager to speak to us. When the manager finally showed up, she showed no sincerity about our thoughts as well. What a surprise!
As a minor who was repeatedly reminded that I had to be off the premises by 8PM, I was more than happy to exit. Find elsewhere unless you want to waste your time and money!

This place could really be something special but the food was mediocre and expensive and the service was unfortunately not great because they only had one person on for the entire restaurant. It seemed. Happy hour does not include any beer you would probably want to drink just the water-like ones which are probably not that expensive normally.. but they actually have all the beers listed on the happy hour menu. So it kind of gives the illusion that they might be reasonably priced but unfortunately that is not the case. My husband had a hamburger and french fries and he said that was really good. My food was kind of greasy and not great. Is a nice setup and with the right management and Cooks it could actually be a pretty cool place but the only thing that was really outstanding was the entertainment because it was open mike night and they had some really good performers.

If I could give this place 0 stars I definitely would!! The blonde manager needs to learn a thing or 2 about customer service! Went with 20 people for a birthday party at 630, had kids with us. Besides waiting FOREVER to even be acknowledged, they came in at 8 and told us we had to leave because we had kids. We had all just started eating. We didn’t get to do the bday cake. I definitely don’t recommend this place

I’ve been to The Monastery on numerous occasions now on various days, nights and times. Each time, table service has been absolutely horrible with timeless. On this night, we sat down with some friends who were here just before us. The server ignored us and attended to our friends. Then when more friends showed up and sat at the table, they were ignored too. From 6:30pm to 8:40pm, we had to get our own drinks and THEN FINALLY a server asked us of we wanted to order because the kitchen closes at 9. I will no longer order food here and will buy my own drinks from the bartender. Thats even IF I return. My experience will be passed on to all of my friends as well.
Also… cut the band after 10pm, told everyone they were closing at 11pm, when hours are posted they are open until midnight? Kicking out paying guests to host a private drinking party perhaps? May the State Liwuor Board needs to pop in if this kind of thing is happening. Hmmmmm…
