The guacamole was very good and I recommend it. The salsa was unmemorable, tasting more of canned diced tomatoes, and my personal preference would have been for roasted tomatoes and onions and garlic, with salt, vinegar and chiles. The tortilla soup was heavily cumin so if you don’t like cumin, this is not for you. The recipe they have chosen is for more of a chicken tortilla mush. But it is not unlike others I have had.
Ambiance is nice. Everyone super friendly. Great wall decor.
I suspect that the recipes they have chosen are designed for clientele from all over but I would say, “Give your chefs an opportunity to offer something off menu as a special option”.
Some cookbooks to get ideas from are shown in photos.
Food was a mixed bag. The Carne Asada Enchiladas with red sauce were excellent and definitely the highlight. The Tex-Mex Burrito was average, heavy on rice and beans with very little meat. The Carne Asada Burrito was better but still had more beans than meat. The Southwest Chicken Salad was also just okay.
Drinks were also hit or miss. The Huckleberry cocktail was good—we ordered it not spicy—but the beer menu was very lackluster. To make matters worse, our waitress didn’t even know the name of the IPA she served us.
Service overall felt disorganized. It seemed like there was only one waitress covering the entire restaurant, while several other employees stood around without helping.
I’m just an obnoxious tourist but I’m an obnoxious tourist that frequents Mexican restaurants all around my hometown. I am not lying when I say this is probably the worst “Mexican” or “Tex Mex” I’ve ever had. I did two stars because it’s not inedible disgusting bad, it was matter that my body will convert into energy, but it’s really difficult to say more about it than that.
The drinks were decent, but slow. Service was slow and not particularly unfriendly but not one star slow. This place is bare minimum and nothing more. Everyone in the restaurant looked like kind of sad but maybe that’s just bad luck, not really something I can critique the restaurant on but a worthwhile observation.
Table of 6 service was outstanding! Never low on drinks (came immediately) and food was out quickly and hot.
A special shout out to our server, Isla! One of the BEST we’ve ever had.
Definitely recommend.
Our server Danny was super friendly and offered local recommendations too. Very helpful!
