We came here on a long journey from the Midwest to celebrate 40 years together. This is the place YOU want to be. Restaurant filled up quickly for a Thursday night & we had a reservation. Shout out to Glenna, our server. She had so many guests to take care of, never skipped a beat, explained each dish with precision and truly shines. She is a true gem as a server. Each dish, crafted with care & deliciousness. Charcuterie board that we asked to be combined with cheeses, the chicken with swiss chard and heirloom tomato, mushroom ravioli that we requested the Pinot noir on the menu, perfect taste. This is a restaurant that celebrates the Chef’s selection of local farm to table and why he is recognized as a Great Chef. Our hats are off to you, your staff and all the deliciousness that encompasses your restaurant. With respect.

We’ve been waiting to dine at The Marketplace for a special occasion. We finally stopped by for dinner for our anniversary and now I’m wishing we had gone sooner.

We had such a lovely experience. Glenna really made the night extra special. Well to be honest all the crew we encountered were wonderful.

The food was fabulous. We got a variety of different sized plates and enjoyed eating and drinking and celebrating.

We couldn’t resist the fries, the peaches were lovely for summer. The trout was delectable. It was all so delicious. Save room for dessert.

Now that we’ve been I would love to stop by more often and enjoy a light bite at the bar or on the patio.

Asheville’s food scene never disappoints and this was no exception. We sat outside which is so cozy because it’s on a very quiet cobblestone street, so the experience is actually pleasant (an anomaly in the US). I got the steak which let me make it clear, I never order steak at restaurants. Usually, it sucks. Not this steak. I didn’t even talk to my wife while eating it, I was so enthralled with the flavor. Every ingredient they use combines so well it seems effortless, but it works so well. My wife got the river trout and she loved it as well. It was the entire fish, not just a filet, so she enjoyed the experience of eating it even more. We ended off with a dessert and it was excellent! I can’t even describe with words how good it was, you’ll just have to try one and trust my word.

I had a very special guest intown and wanted to show off the great food in Asheville. Marketplace did NOT disappoint. The greeting was warm and the service was just right. Warm and professional. The food was fantastic. We had apps, main course and dessert. Each course we better than the last. Easily one of the best restaurants in Asheville!!

We’re so glad that we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary with The Market Place. We always want to try a farm to table restaurant. Not only was the staff very friendly, but the atmosphere created a very romantic mood. The food was simply amazing. We highly recommend experiencing this wonderful establishment, and make sure to leave room for dessert.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. Not super hungry so had several of the small plates. Ham wrapped peaches with ricotta was tasty but peaches were not quite ripe enough which threw off the dish. Rice cake with brisket was yummy. Tomato tarte pie crust was burnt but otherwise ok. Service was friendly. Not sure I would go back but it was just fine.

The duck plate was so flavorful, we didn’t want it to end! Worth the wait on a busy evening. We will be back next visit.

Heard about this chef thru a NPR radio program, Who competed against a celebrity chef , And them going over the Appalachian cuisine, And tell amazing different food and ingredients we had in this area …so when we Came to town to visit the Biltmore estate, We stopped in with the family….. The restaurant DID Live up to my hope and expectation, after being promoted.

Very well executed seasonal food, flavors, Great balance, Of saltiness ,Sweetness ,crunchiness, with the entrées and appetizers that came out ! The sauces that came with our appetizers and dinner were excellent. If you love food and are a foodie, and love to try new things after reading the chefs passion and why they cook what they cook ,this is your place!

Our young food runner for the cheese and meat charcuterie board was the best! He was very passionate and knew every single thing on the board and even told us his favorite…
I wish we took more photos…
Thank you for a great experience!

The Market Place is one of Asheville’s oldest restaurants. It has survived due to their incredible menu, featuring many local fresh ingredients, their consistency in high quality dishes, an excellent drink menu and friendly staff. I highly recommend The Market Place for a friend’s night out, corporate dinner or date night

First thing – service here is amazing. We had a wonderful waitress and staff were lovely.

Food – I ordered the steak. It looked amazing, and the sauce and mushrooms were lovely. The chimichiri was less then a tablespoon which was disappointing since I couldn’t use it with the dish. And the steak, while perfectly cooked, was the blandest beef I’ve ever had. My partner has a bite and was equally surprised. It was clearly well cooked, so maybe I just managed to get an unusually bland piece.
My partner had the duck. He loved it but the greens were completely unseasoned and maxed with an unusually sweet sauce that didn’t go with anything on the plate. He only thought the dish was okay overall.
Given we paid we felt we would have had slightly better food

Ambiance was okay except it was so dim that both me and my partner had to pull out our cell phones in order to read our menus and rearrange how things are placed on the table because any shadow made by an item made it impossible to see anything around it or read the menu around it.
