First time visitor here at the Lunch Bar. I was venturing out from my usual lunch spots and decided to find some more low key spaces. To note, the Lunch Bar is CASH ONLY. No atm on site that I’m aware of. I’ll start off with parking. Parking is rough. The Lunch Bar shares a building with a mechanics shop and you can either end up trying to slide your large vehicle along the curb [almost completely blocking the entry up to the mechanic doors], or you’re parked in the dirt field to the right side of the building… if the 5 or so spaces aren’t already filled. I lucked out. To be fair, if google maps didn’t direct me here it’d be hard to find. The painted name on the building doesn’t stand out; it’s very faint and delicately placed on the facade.
On the inside, it’s very clean. It doesn’t appear to be designed for large groups but it’s cozy in a dark color and metal furniture industrial kind of way. The hostess/server was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. She was attentive even when being pulled in multiple directions to take care of service and cleaning.
What I ordered:
1. Coffee
2. Cheeseburger BLT, provolone cheese p/o American, no tomato. Came with bacon, lettuce, mayo and pickles. Fries instead of potato chips.
I’m impressed with the burger as it was cooked to Medium temp as requested, it was flavorful without being greasy, and it presented well. I’ve noted that the burger is smaller than that of The Cafe 315’s Mesquite burger for example, but the lower price [$8.75 vs $13.99] reflects that so no complaints there. The fries were also notably great without being greasy; crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Just the way I prefer them.
Overall, the Lunch Bar is definitely a wonderful spot for quick bite or take out order. I’d certainly recommend. I spent approx $13 on my meal with additional charge for fries p/o chips.

Top notch service. Mix between Michelin star status and that small hometown ambiance that makes you wish they were open for more hours in the day. They nail the food the service the atmosphere and the scarcity. If I could turn those five stars into a Michelin star I would.

Cash Only, THEY ARE OPEN (until 2 during week) even though it looks dark inside. Now on to the best stuff. Food was absolutely delicious, definitely home cooking! Fries were exactly like I make at home, when I have a lot of extra time, YUMMY! Even better when I don’t have to make them! Chicken parm sandwich delicious! The roll was so fresh and soft, even comes with a crisp pickle. I am one of those people who can’t stand when the chicken has those fat clumps in it, this was not one of those fatty pieces of chicken. Loved the way it was cooked- had a crispness to it that was great. The waitress, cook, everyone was so welcoming and nice. Was so happy to have found this place. It’s one of those small mom and pop type place you run across once in a blue moon that have the best food you have ever run across. Highly recommend you stopping in.

Food was very good and made of quality ingredients. Restaurant was a little loud for my taste. It was PACKED, so noise was to be expected.

(Cash only!) This diner is an excellent substitute for a drive-thru if you’re on your way down I-81. Prices were amazing and the food tasted great. It was as if the place was stuck in a time capsule and hadn’t changed in 50 years. The main clientele were definitely locals—the server seemed surprised to see our family of 4 . But happy and friendly. It’s right next to an auto shop (connecting door) and was a little hard to spot going down the road. If you are looking for a quick sit-down lunch place near Wilkes-Barre, I recommend.

I feel like I just robbed this place!!! $7.50 for delicious Ziti w/meatballs. Homemade Italian Stracciatella soup was outrageously good. Staff and Owner were super nice.
